The YCS of Mount Rosary church offered Sunday mass on (11/07/2010) as a beginning of new members who organised under the guidelines of animator Mr. Henry Machado and Fr. Herald Pereira (YCS/YSM Director, Udupi district). They worked to co – ordinate the new youths who celebrated the Sunday Eucharistic mass with beautiful Homily by Fr Herald about the importance of YCS which was formed in Belgium in 1924.
The YCS of Mount Rosary youths below 18 years of age have partaken in the liturgics’ Biblical Readings, Creed and Intercessions and offerings. The oath by new members, a solemn promise, invoking a divine witness, regarding the future were conducted by Henry Machado with Parish priest Rev Fr. Philip Nerry Aranha and Fr.Herald Pereira in the church followed by mass. The parish community have been expecting a lot of improvement for the future of Mount Rosary church’s social interaction in all aspects.
YCS worldwide encourages spiritual growth among the members and provides formation and training of practical options in the apostleship of fellow students. This club is Christ-centred and its members are helped to live to the expectations of the Christian values in their daily life. Activities it offers include Prayer, Mass, Sacraments, Bible study and involvement in the choir. YCS caters for students` needs in form of drama and singing for entertainment; it educates and informs the community issues that affect student life through organisation of seminars and workshops, debates and discussions. These help YCS members to learn to interact in the community. It trains students in leadership and practical skills like minute writing, report making, keeping simple accounts, conducting meetings as well as involving them in outreach activities to the needy and the sick through small contributions.
