The amount of sand mining from Bengre–Hoode-Kambla Thota - Kemmannu belt of Swarna River is more than kallinapur belt, still people are silent here. We the people of all these low lying small kudrus are in danger. This is the right time to protest collectively to put pressure on the district administration. I will be there in any such protest.

Their concern they are on the verge of submerging, the low lying land has been washed with river erosion and farms get salt water intake during high tide. Apparently the fishermen have complained that their nets have been torn apart due to dragged by sand miners large vessels some of these vessels are employ 6 on each vessel fills a truckload of sand. The excavation in the river bed is so bad that sand miners use iron buckets, ropes, stands and ladders to get down to scoop the sand leaving big underwater pits causing devastation of marine life. Sadananda, your observation is very true. It is a vicious circle between criminals, Mafias and police. Udupi police are following the old tested method of using criminals against criminals, which the Mumbai police used earlier. A old fisher man narrated in his days " it had taken day long to pick the fish from the net. (no ice/transportation/only oil made on shore and bit to eat). I just watched the video. I have had no idea that these fishermen pull the net listening and in unison to Western music, and aisa aisa, and to the rhythm of the undulating waves! Yes I am awake!

Just as, if all those fishermen were to pee while fishing in the sea, the change in water level is not noticable. Same way, a few basketful of fish caught in this article is not going to drain the sea, God’s bounty is extremely bountiful.

The bluish green tinged net is sardine catching net.a sardines (boothay)singular size can be verified by the sardine on the hand. Last snap which you see is a purse (container net red coloured) used to shift the fish to the market, since the sardines not lost on the way. No mosquito net used here by the way to catch the fish. As told earlier imagine the size of the Vast sea then, a group of people catch a small ammount from the sea , it will not make any difference. Just appreciate the hard work of the Fishermen. I love the fisher men chant ...... aisa ...aisa.....aisa. please come, watch enjoy the activity.

Good observation by Mr.Lewis, yes its in deed a wrong practice, Kai rampani and the amount of legnth used here to catch fish is 2 different things. This is against the law. Some one rightly said how a farmer waits his crops to grow to the fullests, similarly fisherman can wait and respect the law which will benefit them, secondly today a fishermen is more richer than a farmer.He can survive this short period. I appreciate the healthy debate.
