Angry Bangladeshi fans stone WI bus in Dhaka

Print The West Indies team bus was today stoned by angry Bangladeshi fans on its way back to the hotel after the Caribbean side thrashed the co-hosts by nine-wickets in a group A match of the cricket World Cup here.
West Indies team’s media manager, Philip Spooner, confirmed the incident and said that because of the stoning two windows of the bus cracked but all the players were safe.
"We left the ground, and on our way back to the hotel, a couple of stones did hit our window," Spooner said. "Two windows were cracked, but not shattered. We are now back at the hotel, both teams are back at the hotel and are safe," he added.
Opting to bat before a sell-out crowd, Bangladesh were shot out for their lowest ODI total of 58 by the West Indies and then the Carbbieans overwhelmed the target losing just one wicket in the 13th over.
Moments after the incident, West Indies opener Chris Gayle tweeted: "This is ridiculous!!! Damn!!! W Cup with so many security and this happen!! Big Joke!!! Trust me I’m not keen here!!! Av players lay flat!!!
"This is some b*******...Bangladesh stoning our bus!!! Freaking glass Break!!! This is crap, can’t believe..what next bullets!!!! Kiss teeth," he said in another tweet. Bangladesh’s humiliating loss did not go down well with the 25,000 fans present at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium who booed the home team and threw playcards on the field after the match showing their disgust.
Later, a Bangladesh police official said that the fans had mistaken the West Indies bus for the Bangladesh team bus. "The fans thought it was the Bangladeshi team bus and they hurled stones at it," Dhaka deputy commissioner of police Imtiaz Ahmed said. "The window panes were shattered, but no one was injured," he added.
