The people in the State are tired of the Congress rule for the last two years. The government has failed to take up development activities and there is no one to listen to the woes of the farmers and the poor, said former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.

Speaking after inaugurating the BJP Raitha Chaitanya Yatre at Shetrakatte in Kundapura taluk on Monday, he termed Siddaramaiah’s governance as “Tughlaq darbar.” People’s movement is the only way to protest against the government, he said.

The former chief minister condemned the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi being born in the land of Mahatma Gandhi and Vallabhbhai Patel. The CM should seek an apology from the people of the country for humiliating Modi.
“If the State government gives Rs one crore to each gram panchayat, then one can expect development in the villages. What can farmers do if the government waives only the interest on the loans borrowed by them in 173 drought-hit taluks. The government should initiate measures to waive loans borrowed from co-operative banks and interest on the loans borrowed from nationalised banks,” he said.

On sand mafia, Yeddyurappa said that sand mining should be allowed in rivers. The State government should frame a sand policy to check all illegal sand mining. The government should also initiate measures to revive Brahmavar sugar factory in the district.

He said that the State government should initiate stringent action against those who were involved in the illegalities in the Department of Rural Development in the State. A special session should be convened to discuss on the issue of encroachment of forest land.

The implementation of Kasturirangan recommendations on conservation of Western Ghats will affect 1,573 villages in 10 districts in the State. There are confusions pertaining to Yettinahole project. The BJP will announce its stand after a discussion on the project, Yeddyurappa said. Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje, former minister Sriramulu, Kota Srinivas Poojary and others were present.
