U T Khader inaugurates state-of-the-art swimming pool

Mangaluru: Dec 20, 2016, DHNS: Educated youth have a great obligation towards nation building. There is a need to strengthen educational institutions in order to facilitate youth to fulfil their duties, said U T Khader, Food and Civil Supplies Minister.

He was speaking after inaugurating the swimming pool complex with Olympic standard and ozone purification system at St Aloysius College in Mangaluru on Monday.

Not just politicians, businessmen or bureaucrats were responsible for strengthening nation. There is a great expectation from today’s youth in turning India into a number one nation. Educational institutions should be upgraded with higher infrastructure facilities, he added.

An alumnus of St Aloysius College, U T Khader recollected his days at St Aloysius College and said that the college has been supporting students to carry out various sports activities. He said the pool will be a boon for sportspersons. The college’s contributions to field of sports by building a state-of-the-art swimming pool is significant, he added.

Mangaluru south MLA J R Lobo urged the government to permit private educational institutions to recruit teachers for vacant posts.

Government chief whip in Legislative Council Ivan D’Souza called upon the students to utilise the new facility in the best possible manner. Moodbdiri legislator K Abhayachandra Jain, Opposition chief whip in the Legislative Council Captain Ganesh Karnik, Karnataka Jesuit Province Provincial Dr Jerome Stanislaus D’Souza, Ballari Bishop Fr Henry D’Souza, St Aloysius Institutions Rector Fr Dionysius Vaz, St Aloysius College Principal Fr Swebert D’Silva and Alumni Association of St Aloysius College Institutions (SACAA) president Archibald Menezes were present, among others. A swimming pool for children, a dressing complex and an utility centre were also inaugurated.
