Manipal University’s WGSHA celebrates Annual Day
Manipal: Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA), a constituent institution of Manipal University, celebrated its annual day on Thursday at Fortune Inn Valley View with grandeur and in style. The programme was well-conceived and the execution flawless. The chief guest for the function was Anil Sharma, Executive Vice President- Human Resources and Learning Services, Hotels Division, ITC Limited.
Addressing the students he said,“If you want to make a change happen tomorrow, then my advice is to follow your passion and do not let ambition get the better of passion. “There is a fine difference between ambition and passion. Because in ambition you have to do better than the other person, but passion is your own and one can be better than you yourself. So enjoy doing what you are passionate about.”
He added; “Follow your guts, follow your dreams and follow your convictions.” He also told them that failures were important to learn. “Embrace failures because failures are good teachers,” he said.
Prof. Parvadhavardhini Gopalakrishnan, Principal WGSHA welcomed the gathering and presented the annual report for the year highlighting the achievements; awards and prizes won by students in sports and cultural competitions, extra-curricular activities and competitions, guests visits, conferences and workshops organized by the college, faculty publications and others.
Neil George, Ex-Senior Vice President, Acquisitions and Development, Africa and Middle East, Marriott Development was honoured with theannual Distinguished Alumnus Award 2017. He is analumnus of the third course of WGSHA. He recalled fond memories of the time he spent in WGSHA and appreciated the tremendous growth and development that have taken place in WGSHA and Manipal University.
