He married 13 times but lost all his wives. While twelve were lucky to have got rid of him after being divorced, the 13th turned out to be unlucky. She was brutally hacked to death.

Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli district, about 90 kilometres from here, arrested Mohammed Mustkeem for allegedly killing his 13th wife.

According to the police sources here the victim, a resident of the neighboring Amethi district, was Mustkeem’s 13th wife. Mustkeem had divorced his earlier 12 wives.

Sources said that Mustkeem had married for the 12th time around four years back. The couple also had a three month old baby.

The locals said that Mustkeem, a resident of Pure Kale Khan locality in the district, and his wife used to fight often over domestic issues. Mustkeen had even met his father-in-law a few days back and told him that he wanted to divorce his wife.

The 13th wife Mumtaz (name changed) went missing on Monday. On Thursday night her body was recovered from the fields near Chulamau village in the district. There were several injury marks on the body indicating that she must have been tortured before being strangled to death, police said. Mustkeem was arrested by the police later in the night, sources said.

Mumtaz’s father said that he had agreed to marry his daughter with Mustkeem after the latter had assured to take good care of her. Sources said that Mustkeem was planning to marry for the 14th time and had even selected a woman for him.

Sources said that Mustkeem had married for the 12th time around four years back.
