He also said that Veerashaiva-Lingayats are primarily Hindus as they worship ’Ishtalinga’ which is a symbol of Hindus.
Hubballi: In the first mammoth rally of Veerashaiva-Lingayats in Vijayapura on Sunday after the state government decided to seek the minority tag for Lingayats, Srishaila seer Dr Channasiddarama Panditaradya Swamiji, who is one of the Pancha Peetha seers, described Congress leaders as ‘Pakistan agents’ who are implementing its agenda of eliminating Hindus.
Claiming that the state government is trying to divide Hindus as they are the major support base of the BJP, the seer urged people not to vote for the Congress in the forthcoming Assembly elections. He also said that the plea to seek independent religion is a conspiracy to prevent Narendra Modi from becoming Prime Minister again after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
"We can no longer keep quiet and let Congress do anything with our religion, it is time to retaliate. The Pancha Peethas are losing patience and cannot tolerate a division of Hindu religion in the name of seeking independent religion status for Lingayats", the seer said.
Accusing former bureaucrat SM Jamdar- who is demanding separate religion tag for Lingayats- of disrespecting Pancha Peethas, Rambhapuri seer Dr Veerasomeshwara Shivacharya Swamiji said that they are contemplating filing a case against Jamdar and dragging him to court. He also said that Veerashaiva-Lingayats are primarily Hindus as they worship ’Ishtalinga’ which is a symbol of Hindus.
Asserting that the Congress is taking their patience as a sign of weakness, the seer warned the ruling party of strong resistance from the people if the government does not withdraw the proposal for religion status and tender an unconditional apology for dividing the religion.
