Pakistani troops fired along the LoC

One civilian was killed in a cross-border firing during a ceasefire violation on the Line of Control (LoC) by Pakistani troops in the Pir Panjal’s valley’s Poonch on Thursday night.

A police official said Mohammad Ikhlaq, 22, son of Mohammad Sadiq, a resident of Kalisan Baghal Dhara, received serious injuries in the Pakistan army’s firing. "He died on the spot," said the police. The police said Pakistani Army "initiated indiscriminate firing during the intervening night of May 10-11 on Indian Army posts at Baghal Dhara". "Army retaliated the fire. The exchange continued for several hours," said the police.

In mainland Kashmir valley, militants fired upon CRPF personnel in Pulwama’s Awantipora town around 1.00 a.m. "There was no casualty in the firing," said the police.
Restrictions in Srinagar, Shopian

The authorities imposed security restrictions in parts of Srinagar and Shopian in the wake of separatists call for "peaceful protests" after Friday prayers to protest against civilian casualties in security forces’ operations. Separatist leaders, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Ali Geelani, were placed under house arrest. Locals said no vehicle was allowed to move in and around the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar’s Nowhatta area. The area has been sealed by placing concertina wires on the main roads.
