Print ICA approval not needed for UAE residents landing in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, says PIA official
All other travel requirements remain the same, a PIA official said.
UAE residents travelling to Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) won’t need an approval from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA), an airline has told travel agents.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) sent a notification to travel agents saying: "All passengers with valid residency visas (don’t) require ICA approval arriving to AUH."
The airline said all other requirements for travel like getting a Covid-19-negative test remain the same. It also said the move could be "amended anytime".
When contacted, a spokesperson for PIA Abdullah Khan confirmed the news and said the airline is taking bookings from Pakistani passengers with valid UAE residence visas.
"PIA passengers travelling to Abu Dhabi and Al Ain have not required ICA approval any more," Khan said, adding that they have received an email notification from the competent authorities.
Abbas Raza Dar, country manager of Pakistan’s second-largest airline Airblue, also confirmed the email notification about the ICA approval for passengers travelling to Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
"It is a welcome step and will provide huge relief to the expats with a valid residence visa. I expect it will boost inbound traffic in coming days and ease troubles of passengers traveling to the UAE capital," Dar told Khaleej Times on Monday.
