After extensive renovation, the Hindu Temple of Kentucky in Louisville (USA) is celebrating its re-inauguration with a grand ceremony on June 12.
 

Launched in 1986, the “MahaKumbhabishekam” celebrations will start on June five with a grand finale on June 12. Mayor Greg Fischer has reportedly proclaimed June 12 as “Temple Re-Inauguration Celebration Day” and shall also partake in the celebrations.
 

Events during these MahaKumbhabishekam celebrations include japam, homam, havan, cultural displays, puja, ahuthi, agni sthapan, satsang, utsavam, procession, etc.
 

Meanwhile, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, applauded efforts of Temple management and Kentucky and surrounding area community for these renovations to the wonderful Hindu temple complex.
 

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that these Temple activities would help in this direction. Zed stressed that instead of running after materialism; we should focus on inner search and realization of self and work towards achieving moksh (liberation), which was the goal of Hinduism.

 
Besides serving the spiritual and religious needs of Hindu and Jain communities of the area, this Temple also runs a Hindu School and a Youth Group. Jayshree Amin, Amar Singla, and Ravi Shanker are Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary of the Board of Directors; while Shiv Garg,  Martand Sarma, Rajendra Kumar Joshi, and Shrimathi Thirunarayanan are Managing Director, Administrator, Priest, and Hindu School Administrator respectively of the Temple.
 

Louisville, also called “city without limits”, founded in 1778 and named after King Louis XVI of France, is situated on the Ohio River. Known for Kentucky Derby, bourbon whiskey and originator of cheeseburger, notable persons associated with it include boxing legend Muhammad Ali, US President Zachary Taylor, inventor Thomas Edison, actor Tom Cruise, actress Irene Dunne, newscaster Diane Sawyer, etc.
