MYRIAD TALENT:Students at a demonstration of Friday’s ‘Aliens Show’ at the BrandQuest exhibition in Udupi.
Udupi: The E-Skool will be organising the seventh annual Udupi District Science and Technology Exhibition “BrainQuest 2010” at the Sheshashayana Hall here on Saturday.
Director of E-Skool Poornima Kamath said that the major attraction of BrainQuest this year would be an introduction to laser through an “Aliens Show” in the “space room” at the exhibition.
Each show would be of 20 minutes duration and it would be held from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Twenty four students in two groups would be participating in these shows. “The participating students would have to act as aliens from a different solar system,” she said.
The concept of animation would be taught through Praxinoscope.
A model of seismograph to measure earthquakes would be another attraction. “The aim is to create awareness about science and technology through entertainment,” she said.
Two hundred science and engineering related displays and over 40 science models by high school children of the district would be presented.
There would be puzzles and strategy games to tickle the intelligence of students. Under the “I-Quest” competition, competitors could play virtual tennis.
Students would have to prepare perfumes under the “Perfume Quest” competition. They would be encouraged to perform small experiments focusing on the properties of gas under the Research Quest competition.
“One of our objectives is to promote love for research among students,” said Ms. Kamath.
