Bid to rape mute girl; convict gets jail

Print | A court here has sentenced a man convicted of attempting to rape a mute girl to five years rigorous imprisonment. | |
| In a press release, public prosecutor K Govindaraju has stated that the convict Doddamallaiah of Chunchanahalli in the district had attempted to outrage the modesty of the girl on August 12, 2010. Judge of second additional district and sessions court Erannanvar held him guilty and sentenced him to imprisonment besides slapping a fine of Rs 5,000. The court also ordered him to undergo additional imprisonment of three monts if he failed to pay fine in lieu there of, the release added. Security guard robbed A security guard was allegedly robbed of Rs 500 in cash besides cellphone in the heart of the city on Friday. Siddarajappa, a native of Karya village in Nanjangud taluk is the victim. He works as a security guard at a finance company here. He was walking towards the work place in the morning from suburban bus stand, when a gang of four waylaid him. One among the assailants, who was armed threatened him at knife point to part with valuables in his possession. Surprisingly, Siddarajappa was attacked in the middle of the road that connects Doddagadiyara circle through Chandragupta road from the bus stand.  He also had to face their wrath as they hit him before making away with the valuables. Lashkar police are investigating the case. Two arrested Nazarbad police on Thursday arrested two in relation to the death of a woman and her daughter recently. Rajiv and his mother Rajalakshmi are those arrested. Divya wife of Rajiv had died of burns along with her one year and three months old daughter Tanushree on Tuesday night. According to her parents both had been done to death by Rajiv and his relatives for want of more dowry. While Rajiv and his mother were apprehended, the remaining two accused in the case Rajiv’s brother and sister-in-law are still at large. Four arrested Nanjangud police have arrested four who were preparing to strike on Hullahalli road in the town on Thursday night. The accused have been identified as C Guru alias Kencha, Siddaraju, Umesh and Rajesh, of Terakanambi in Gundlupet taluk, all in the age group of 19 to 21 years. Acting on a tip off, police personnel led by Inspector Shivaswamy nabbed the four, while three others Anil, Venkatesh and Ravi managed to give a slip. They were moving in a Tata Sumo in a suspicious manner when they fell in police net. An iron rod, knife, rope, chilli powder and three cellphones have been recovered from them |
