For many years now HanumanCharitable Trust (a group concern of Hanuman Transport Co. Pvt. Ltd.) has been inpursuit of promoting social activities in the best interest of community– Udupi district specifically. It has been Trust’s earnest interestto promote all activities which can benefit people of district and make it notjust financially affluent but also economically viable.

“For years now focus ofyouth from this place has been solely towards obtaining education from thisplace and, later, finding ‘better prospects abroad’. As a resultUdupi is being, soon, turned into a ‘pensioner’s paradise’.That we have significant brain-drain at all academic discipline is beyonddoubts and that there isn’t much available to stop this, too, is areality.” Concerns Vilas Nayak, Managing Trustee of Hanuman CharitableTrust who’s organizing “Entrepreneurship and Social EmpowermentInitiative” in partnership with FolksMagazine.Com towards retainingyouths of this region and develop economic prospects of Udupi district.

As a part of this initiativeHanuman Charitable Trust’s Managing Trustee, Mr. P. Vilas Nayak along withFolksMagazine.Com’s Editor-in-chief, Mr. U. Mahesh Prabhu visit all thecolleges in Udupi and educate the students about the virtues ofentrepreneurship and motivate them to pursue it in the best possible way. Thisinitiative is a two hour session followed by a brief question & answertime. Because entrepreneurship is being limited greatly owing to limitation ingovernment machinery a brief about social empowerment, too, is being addedtowards ensuring effectiveness thereby branding the program as “Entrepreneurshipand Social Empowerment Initiative”.

The initiative has specialemphasis in the rural colleges. The program has already been conducted atManipal, Udupi, Brahmavar and Karkala. “The responses we are able to getto this program are encouraging to say the least.” suggests U. MaheshPrabhu who’s also a Fellow of Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Irelandand Member of International Federation of Journalists. The program being freeof cost also issues a participation certificate to colleges as well as students.
