Local Briefs: House arrest for Anganavadi kids of Padubidri / Abandoned 6 yr boy rescued
PADUBIDRI : Kids attending an anganavdi which is functioning in a private building inthe heart of the town of Padubidri, are virtually confined to the four walls of the building,as if they have been placed under house arrest, courtesy the deplorable conditionsprevailing outside the building.Years ago, following lack of space for a local anganavdi, the local Mahila Mandalimembers had allowed the Anganavdi to function from their building behind the Padubidri Society. A Balavana had also been constructed and handed over by the mandali. But the building is today crying for attention due to the neglect of the local gram panchayat. If the kids attending the anganavadi have to enter the building they have to walk amidst the bushes and shrubs that have grown in the area trying to avoid some thorny bushes.
Even a flag post in front of this building is lying unrepaired. Moreover, the presence of a large number of poisonous insects as well as snakes in the bushes around, make parents think twice before sending their little ones to this Anganavdi.Even those who daringly send their kids are only making the kids suffer as the kids are confined to the four walls of the building and are not allowed to step out.
Though the matter has been brought to the notice of the taluk panchayat authorities, so far there has been no action. The villagers are questioning if it was proper for the local adminstation to remain apathetic to the problems of the anganavdi.

Cong has failed as an oppn : Deviprasad Shetty
PADUBIDRI: “The ruling BJP and opposition Congress parties in the state are working in unison with each other like brothers and are involved in the task of looting the state treasury ,” alleged Udupi District JD(S) President Deviprasad Shetty.
Presiding over a meeting organized by the JD(S) in Kaup as a prelude to the oncoming ZP and TP elections, he said development has received a setback due to the various scams that have been often rocking the government. The Congress, he said has failed to question the misrule of the government, as an effective opposition, giving room for doubts if senior leaders of the party were involved in the same.
