BANGALORE: Embassy Group chairman Jitendra Virwani on Tuesday said the management of Pebble Bar, where his son Karan Virwani was allegedly assaulted by bouncers, is urging him to withdraw the complaint.

 "They called me and asked me to withdraw the complaint against the bar. They promised to surrender the complete CCTV footage of the Sunday night incident. They even told me that the 11 bouncers were willing to apologise for their behaviour. But there’s no question of a compromise. I won’t withdraw the complaint. Let the law take its course,’’ Jitendra told TOI.

 Virwani said the youth did not attack the police. ``they defended themselves when the bouncers attacked them. My son Karan was never detained by the police. Of the five, two were detained and this did not include Karan’’ he said.

 However, a prominent member of the Pebble management, on condition of anonymity, told TOI, "This is a baseless allegation. We don’t even have Virwani’s contact numbers. If we wanted a compromise, we would not have filed a police complaint. Now, we’re getting threatening messages on our social network sites saying we have messed with highly influential people and will face the consequences. We have requested the police for security," he said.

 Police said bar employees had orally complained they were being threatened. "We told them to file a police complaint,’’ police said.

 Investigating officers said they were working on filing a chargesheet and arrests will be made in a couple of days. The persons named appeared in the FIR will be taken into custody. After an investigation, police will decide who should be arrested. Circumstantial evidence will be taken into consideration while arresting the accused, they said.However, even if they are arrested, they will be released on ’station bail’. This is because the FIR mainly has IPC sections 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint) and 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons).

 Condemning the behaviour of the bouncers, Virwani said: "Smoking in a non-smoking area does not warrant beating with rods and chasing the boys. My son was only protesting against the move by the bar employees to throw out his friend Ayush.’’

 On home Minister K J George allegedly influencing the release of the boys, Virwani said: "The home minister is a family friend. If he was trying to help me, why would a case be filed against us?"

 According to police, Pebble is owned by two persons. While the building and restaurant licence is in the name of Syed Hafiz Ali, the excise licence is owned by V Rajesh. The licence is issued for running ’a pub with discotheque’.
