MIA sees decrease in the domestic air passengers and more...
Mangalore: Mangalore International Airport (MIA) at Kenjar has recorded 4% overall growth in passenger traffic for the six months in the first half of this current fiscal.
A release form the airport director J T Radhakrishna stated that the number of passengers traveled by MIA from April 2014 to September 2014 is 6.57 lac passengers. While in the previous year the airport received 6.32 lac passengers who took up both domestic and international travelling.
During the half year the growth in International passengers is 24% where as the domestic passengers reduced by 5%. The airport handled 2,36,789 international air passengers as against 1,91,952 in the first six months of last fiscal, while the number of domestic air passengers was lower at 4,19,052 as against 4,40,309 passengers last year
Many tier-two Airports such as Trichy, Madurai, Tirupathi, Bhopal, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Bhubhaneshwar has seen a reduction in domestic passengers growth.
Mangalore Airport has seen 15% & 21% growth in years 2012-13, 2013-14 but the current year growth may not be as of previous years. The airport director stated that the airport may see increase in the number of passengers if domestic and international destinations are added to MIA.
Man brutally murdered in Urwa
Mangalore : A 48-year-old man was found dead on Thursday, October 23, morning in the premises of Bayalu Ranga Mantapa near Urwa Marigudi Temple.
The deceased is Nandakumar, a local who had abandoned his family, revealed police sources.
It is learnt that the victim was brutally murdered by unidentified persons between Wednesday night and Thursday morning. The motive of the murder is yet to be ascertained.
Police commissioner R Hitendra, Deputy Police Commissioner Vishnuvardhan and Urwa Police personnel visited the spot. An FIR is yet to be filed.
Elderly found dead in Sugody was murdered, say police
Kundapura: The police have filed a murder case in connection to death of Seetha Kulalthi (60). The woman was found dead amidst the bushes at Sugody in Bidkalkatte recently.
The deceased had left the house on Tuesday morning to pay some cash at Dharmasthal Gramabhivridhi Yojana center.
The Kota police who have registered a case stated that she was hit by a weapon on the head, which caused her death. It is suspected that family disputes might have led to the murder.
Unidentified body found near vented dam
Bantwal: An unidentified male body in a highly decomposed state was found near Thumbay vented dam in Bantwal on Thursday, October 23.
The identification of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. The body was retrieved by the fire service personnel on Thursday afternoon.
Bantwal rural police who visited the spot are investigating the case. The body has been shifted to the government hospital morgue.
Inter-faith marriage: VHP leader Jagdish Shenava, five others booked
Mangalore : VHP Leader Jagadish Shenava and five others have been booked under various charges in connection to inter-faith wedding of Roshan Shetty and Vivita alias Sonia D’Souza, which was solemnised at Arya Samaj on October 16.
Sonia who lived with Roshan for four days, left him and returned to her parents and filed a case against Shenava, Praveen, Sharath, Ganesh Kumpala, Dinesh Kadri and her husband Roshan Shetty for forcing her into the marriage.
In her complaint she said that Roshan, who is an acquaintance of her had asked her for some money. Hence she had met Roshan at Central Market at 11 am. Here, Roshan along with the said accused had first inebriated her and had then taken her to various places in the city and tried to sexually assault her.
She said that they then took her to an advocate, forcefully made her sign some documents and on October 16, they threatened her of dire consequences if she did not marry Roshan.
Konaje police have registered cases against the accused under IPC Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 366 (Kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage, etc), 342 (wrongful confinement), 143(unlawful assembly) and 147 (rioting).
