Kemmannu, Nov 2: The Catholic Sabha, Kemmannu Unit felicitated Mrs. Veronica Cornelio, the winner of District Rajyostava Award 2014. Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Rajyotsava Award to Veronica Cornelio a feather on Kemmannu cap

Udupi : The 58^th Kannada Rajyothsava celebrations held at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College Grounds here on 1^st November, 2014 with great manner. Various cultural tableaux were brought to the celebrations ground prior to the flag hoisting and felicitations programs.

During the celebrations as many as 23 Outstanding Achievers were honoured and felicitated with Rajyothsava Awards. Schools which receive 100 results in SSLC examinations to get Rs. 10,000 each schools.

Among the Rajyotsava awardees’, Smt Veronica Cornelio of Kemmannu for her contribution towards outstanding social works.

Veronica Cornelio Nominated for District Rajyothsava Award 2014

Udupi, 31 October 2014: The district Rajyothsava Award committee has nominated Mrs. Veronica Cornelio for the District Rajyothsava Award 2014 in recognition to her achievements in the field of social service. This award will be conferred upon her in a felicitation program to be held at MGM college grounds at 9 am on Karnataka Rajyothsava (1 November). This event will be presided by various dignitaries and government officials of the district.

Mrs. Veronica Cornelio who hails from Kemmannu has actively involved herself in the field of social service for the past 20 years. She has served as one of the initial lady presidents of Udupi Taluk Panchyath and has been an elected Taluk Panchayth member for the past 2 decades from Uppor and Padu Thonse electoral area’s. She is currently the President of the district Mahila Congress wing.

Mrs. Veronica Cornelio is also the Co coordinator, and has played a key role in introducing the Manipal Konkani Aroghya Suraksha Card for the Konkani speaking Christian community under the banner of Catholic Sabha. This facility reaches out to thousands of families who benefit from this scheme. She is widely known for simplicity, polite and soft spoken nature.

Responding to this honor, Mrs. Veronica Cornelio says that she is humbled by this recognition given to her, “In the field of social service, one must never expect anything in return for their service. The support from my family and the blessings and good will of the people has kept me afloat. I will continue serving people to the best of my ability” she said.

Mrs . Veronica Cornelio is also considered as a champion of knowledge with regard to the schemes available from the government, especially for widows, handicapped and the backward classes. Her selfless contribution to the society has widely been acknowledged by various organizations and institutions.

Udupi: The Udupi district administration has selected 21 personalities from different fields for Udupi Zilla Rajyotsava award this year.

21 persons have been selected for the award for their outstanding contribution to their respective fields.

The announcement was made by the district administration on Friday October 31. The list of personalities who have been selected for the award under various categories is as follows:
