Maternal uncle rapes niece

Narimogaru: A man has been arrested by the Puttur police on Saturday, November 15 on charges of raping and impregnating his own niece, at Puttur.

The accused Eshwar Devadiga reportedly raped his niece on April 25, 2014 who was residing at his house after the death of her father. He had also threatened her of killing if she revealed the incident.

The victim who took courage filed a complaint against her maternal uncle on Saturday. The court has remanded the accused to judicial custody.

Facebook love turns ugly as girl accuses male ’friend’ of raping her

Udupi : A 16-year-old girl from Udupi who got friendly with a 23-year-old youth from Kerala has filed a complaint against the latter accusing him of raping her.

The girl who is a PUC student is said to have got acquainted to the accused over facebook. The accused who resided in Shirva later got in touch with the girl through frequent messages and calls.
 
On Friday, the couple met at Karkala and traveled in a bus together and got down at Hiriadka junction. On reaching Hiriadka, according to the girl, the accused took her to a nearby forest on the pretext of spending some lone time with her.
 
The locals who noticed the duo walking towards the secluded area grew suspicious and followed them and found the couple in a compromising position. When the locals brought the two at Hiriadka police station, the girl said that she was forced by him to involve in the sexual act.

The accused has been produced before the court and has been remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

School boy found dead at polytechnic college premises

Kasargod : A school boy was found dead in a sandpit under mysterious circumstances at Hosadurga here on Saturday, November 15.

The deceased is Abhilash (15), son of a fisherman named Sathish from Kadappura, Hosadurga.
Abhilash was a Class X student of Government High School here.

His classmates informed that he had attended classes as usual on November 14 and left for home in an auto-rickshaw. However, instead of getting down near his house, he got down at Kushalnagar in Hosadurga.

As he did not reach home on the stipulated time, his parents went in search for him.

To their dismay, Abhilash was found dead in a sandpit in the premises of the polytechnic institute in Kushalnagar.

Few injury marks were found on his body while his eyes had been mutilated.

District Police Superintendent Thomson Jose and Hosadurga DySP Harishchandra Naik visited the spot. Further investigation is on.

Lorry collides against electric pole disturbing power supply in Bolanthila

Uppinangady : Power supply in Bolanthila of 34 Nekkilady was affected for few hours after a lorry rammed into two electric poles erected alongside the road on Saturday, November 15.

The incident occurred when the driver of  granite laden lorry (Bangalore to Kanhangad)  rammed into the electric pole in a bid to avert hitting a car on a steep road. As two poles were uprooted power supply was affected.

The lorry driver is said to have fled from the scene.  The traffic was blocked for more than half an hour. Uppinangady Police and Puttur Traffic Police arrived at the spot to clear the block.

The loss incurred by MESCOM was pegged at Rs 1 lac.
