Kundapur: Sathish Shetty,  CEO of a software firm  in USA has announced a cash reward of Rs one lakh to person providing information on the whereabouts of his mother who went missing from Korgi village near Kundapur on June 24.
 
The missing woman is Malathi B Shetty (65). As per sources Malathi Shetty had left her house in Korgi on June 24 to visit a relative and has not returned home.
 
Though Malathi’s husband and other relatives searched for her, their efforts only met failure.
 
A missing complaint was lodged at Kundapur police station on June 26 and since month now, there has been no development in the case.
 
On July 13, the personnel of the Fire and Emergency Services had even searched ponds and wells in the area and its surroundings.
 
Superintendent of Police K Annamalai has formed a special team under Deputy Superintendent of Police Manjunath Shetty, but has made no progress so far.
 
Malathi Shetty is 5.5 ft tall. She has a round face, fair complexion and normal built. She was wearing a cream sari and pink blouse when she left her house. She speaks only Kundapur Kannada. Wife joins hands with lover, kills husband

Subramanya: Close on heels of recovery of a decomposed dead body from Pataje Meepalakadu area in Sullia-Puttur border on Wednesday, the police have not just identified that the body is of Jayananda Gowda (53), resident of Kanyana-Kalya near Kuthkunja of Sullia taluk, but have revealed a startling fact that the man was made to death by his own wife, with help of her alleged lover Dhananya Poojary, resident of Panja.
 
It is said that Jayananda was aware of the illicit relationship between his wife Leela and Dhananjay. However, he tried to change his wife’s mind. But, Leela not just refused to mend her ways but also hatched a plan to kill her husband.

When she discussed the plan with her lover, he gave his consent and the duo decided to clear their way by killing Jayananda.
 
As a first attempt, Leela and Dhananjay planned an accident and accordingly on May 17, 2015 Jayananda’s bike was knocked down by a Jeep. However, Jayananda had escaped the mishap with injuries. While he thought it was an accident, he was completely unaware of the fact that it was a pre-planned conspiracy to kill him.
 
The failed accident plan went against the ’love birds’ as Jayananda became very cautious about his safety. He refrained from venturing out of house unnecessarily and made it a point to return home early.
 
Now, the duo plans another murder plot. On July 14, Jayanand was waylaid and forcefully pulled into a car at Ninthikal. He is then smothered and his dead body is disposed off at Pataje area.
 
After killing her husband, Leela then stages another show to mislead the police by filing a missing complaint at Subramanya police station.
 
When Jayananda’s bike is traced at Nettaru area, the case takes an interesting turn and the police joining the dots trace out the connection between Leela and Dhananjay and draw a conclusion that Jayananda was murdered by his own wife with help from lover.

Police foil murder accused’s bid to flee country with fake passport

Mangaluru: A murder accused who was all set to flee the country using a fake passport was nabbed by the Bantwal police on Tuesday.
 
The arrested is Haneef (33), a resident of Maripalla village and the prime accused in auto driver Rifai’s murder case. Rifai’s dead body was found at Nethrakere near Bantwal taluk on August 10, 2014. Haneef is said to have financed the murder.
 
Though Haneef was arrested within few months of the murder, he had secured conditional bail from High Court in January, 2015.
 
The police then got a clue that Haneef has done a passport, following which a look out notice against Haneef was issued as there was a possibility of Haneef contemplating to leave the country.
 
The police managed to get the passport details of Haneef that he had created recently and passed on the information to immigration. Accordingly, when Haneef appeared before the immigration with fake passport to fly to Dubai, he was detained.
 
Haneef had changed his name in the passport as Abdul Kareem. Though his parents name was unchanged, his residential address was given as Umar Khayyam Road, Bannimantapa, Mysuru.
 
It may be recalled that 25-year-old auto driver named Rifai, a resident of Maripalla was hacked to death. Rifai was the brother of one Tousif, who was arrested in connection to murder of rowdy-sheeter Naushad.
 
It is said that Rifai fell prey to the murderers who wanted to kill Tousif to avenge Naushad’s death.
