Girish R Gowda- “The Silver Medal winner” in the World Cup Diamond

Bengaluru 14th October 2016: A professional kickboxer, personal trainer and a fighter based out of Bengaluru, Mr. Girish R Gowda  has recently won Silver Medal at World Cup Diamond at WAKO World Kickboxing Championship event held at Anapa, Russia in September 2016 and brought laurels to Indian sports.  

Girish was born on February 9, 1986 in Bengaluru. He has been fighting in the middleweight and heavyweight categories.  At the age of 18 he started his training in Kickboxing. In the sports arena, he is well known for his toughness, technique, hunger for victory and will to fight attitude. Girish started his career as a mechanic and then worked as sales representative in Horlicks before becoming a team leader in Airtel. Currently he is working as personal trainer at Kaizen Fitness JP Nagar, Bengaluru.

 There is an interesting story behind Girish’s kick boxing profession. One day he was passing a street when an unknown person attached him for no reason and he couldn’t defend of hit him back. Later his friends insisted on finding that person and taking revenge. He was scared to do so, considering his family reputation and background. Moreover he was the only bread earner in the whole family. That is when he decided to join karate class, become physically tough and then take the necessary revenge. Life had different plans and made him a professional kick boxer and helped him win so many championships and awards.

Girish faced many difficulties to reach to this level. He mentions that he has many more dreams to achieve and the story has just begun. He said he will always remain indebted and obliged to the people who have supported in his difficult times. Currently, his focus is on the upcoming international tournaments which he intends to win, but this journey would definitely need a lot of financial support which could only be procured through right sponsors who can take care of this dream.

Through media he wishes to reach out to as many people as possible who can join hands with him in his future endeavours. His sincere request to the people of India is to encourage and support him through sponsorships and help him reach the international standards and bring pride to India.

    Runners up in Pro-Am National Muay Thai Championship in September 2015.

    Winner of Bronze Medal at National Kickboxing Championship, Vizag in 2011.
