Udupi: NH Awareness Committee will launch agitation against the toll collection if demands not fulfilled

Print Udupi : National Highway without fully completion of service roads, bus stops, lavatories and other amenities, the collection of tolls exemption demands, we had legally put forth our demands, said Pratap Shetty, President of National Highway Awareness Committee.
He was speaking to media persons at Udupi Press Club, on 13th February during our protest against the toll collection, Brahamavar special Tahasildar visited us and given assurances with our various fundamental demands and up to 25th February the toll collection for KA 20 vehicles has been temporary suspended.
He said that the company will be starting to collect toll from February 25 which should be suspended for KA 20 vehicles will the meeting is convened with the chief secretary, Government of Karnataka. During the meeting with Shobha Karandleje and NHAI with Navayuga Construction Company officials which given instruction that not to collect the toll till the meeting with Chief Secretary.
The National Highway Awareness Committee, Sasthan demanded that the service roads establishment, bus stand and other amenities are still pending and we need to complete these our demands, failed which we are against to collection of toll. The people who are living in the proximity of 20 kms should be given exemption as they are regular commuters, he further said.
He said that the demands are not met the National Highway Awareness committee will launch severe agitation against the toll collection.
