Mumbai: BJP leader and social activist Ms. Shaina NC met Hon.  Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis seeking justice for the death of  ex -Doordarshan Anchor Kanchan Nath which was allegedly caused by negligence of the BMC  and Garden Department officials.
Inspite of being informed about the precarious condition of the tree, and having deposited the fees of Rs. 1,380 towards the cost of cutting the tree with the Garden Department, the BMC failed to take action and denied permission for cutting the tree.

A delegation of the local corporator Asha Marathe, the deceased Kanchan’s husband Mr. Rajat Nath and son Rajarshi Nath and relatives alongwith local corporator Asha Marathe and Shaina NC presented their demands as under:

a)    An FIR be lodged against the BMC, which the police refused to register.

b)    Compensation for the loss of life due to negligence

c)     Case to be registered against the Garden department officials

 Hon. Chief Minister heard them out and assured them that he will personally look into the issue in depth and see that the Nath family is compensated.
As far as the errant officer of the garden department is concerned an  enquiry has been ordered. And he  assured them that the person responsible for this mishap will be taken to task.

 delegation lead by BJP leader Shaina NC with local corporator Asha Marathe Raj Nath (deceased Kanchan’s husband), Rajarshi Nath (son) and relatives met Chief Minister Devenda Fadnavis seeking justice for the death of former Door Darshan anchor Kanchan Nath because a coconut fell on her and after few days she succumbed to multiple injuries in hospital. Inspite of Rs.1,380 fees was paid for cutting of the tree with the Garden Department but Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) failed to take action and refused permission for cutting the tree.
 Delegation demanded with CM that Police must lodge FIR against BMC, Compensation for the loss of life and case to be registered against Garden Department officials.
 CM Devendra Fadnavis assured them nobody will be sparred for negligence of duties as well as CM assured about compensation for Nath’s family. An enquiry has been ordered against errant officials  of the garden department and horticultural assistant Deepali Kaur.
