Udupi: District Congress protests against rising prices of fuel

Udupi: The Udupi Block Congress staged a protest rally on Saturday in the city against the rising prices of petrol, gas and diesel.

The protesters assembled and took out a rally from the Board High School alongside a camel and a horse which went through the service bus stand, Triveni Circle, KM Marg, Diana Circle, Court Road, and Big Bazaar at gathering in the end at the War Memeorial, Ajjarkad.

Addressing the protesters, Sathish Amin Padukere, Block Congress President said that the Modi drove NDA government has been looting the general public and that the government is benefitting basic man’s expenses. While the global crude oil costs have decreased, the Modi government is topping off its coffers. He additionally blamed the administration for robbing several crore from LPG customers in the nation by expanding the costs of the sponsored LPG cylinders.

He said that when the Congress government was in power, it balanced the fuel costs. "Amith Shah and Modi are plundering the general population and crushing out their well deserved hard earned money and that is the sole motive of the BJP government," he added.

Congress leader Amrith Shenoy, said that Modi made false promises about giving employments to the youth of the nation. "Arun Jaitley says that you can gain cash by offering pakodas. What is the employment ensurity for the highly skilled and well educated individuals in the nation?," he said including that the BJP has not satisfied any of their promises from the time they came to power.

District Congress Committee President Janardhan Tonse also spoke during the protest. Women Congress activists helped in the preparation of the veg pakodas. Janardhan Bhandarkar welcomed the gathering and proposed the vote of thanks.

A large number of congress activists participated in the rally including Prashanth Poojary, Prakyath Shetty, Dinesh Puthran, Kishan Hegde Kolkebail, Ramesh Kanchan, Christan Almeida, Neeraj Patil, Sujarya Poojary, Veronica Cornelio, Roshni Olivera, Sunitha Shetty, Jyothi Hebbar, Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje, Sandhya Tilak Raj, Celine Karkada, Harmos Noronha and others.
