Delhi Exit Poll Results Live Updates: AAP Set To Return To Power, BJP To Remain A Distant Second

While Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) fought the elections relying heavily on its work in the areas of education, healthcare and transport, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led an aggressive campaign dotted with controversial statements and severe criticism of Delhi Chief Minister.

The exit poll results for the elections to the Delhi Assembly have started pouring in and show AAP in pole position . While Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) fought the elections relying heavily on its work in the areas of education, healthcare and transport, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led an aggressive campaign dotted with controversial statements and severe criticism of Delhi Chief Minister.

The Delhi throne is also significant for the BJP as it sets its eyes on ending a 20-year drought since they had a CM in the national capital. Congress, despite ruling the city for 15 years before Kejriwal deposed Sheila Dikshit, lacked energy throughout the campaign, compelling poll pandits to ask if the grand old party had any plans to revive its fortunes in Delhi.

7:55 PM: According to India Today Axis My India Exit Poll survey, the Aam Aadmi Party is expected to win big and retain power in the national capital.

They predict AAP to win between 50 and 58 seats, followed by BJP, which could win 2-10 seats.

7:45 PM: According to India Today Axis My India Exit Poll, in South Delhi, it’s again an AAP weep with 9-10 seats. The BJP may win 1, according to this survey.

7:30 PM: According to India Today Axis My India, in East Delhi -- the Lok Sabha constituency of BJP’s Gautam Gambhir -- AAP is expected to win 9-10 seats. The BJP is once again predicted to win just 1.

7:28 PM: ABP C-voter is out with its final numbers. They have given Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) 49-63 seats; the BJP could win 5-21.

7:16 PM:  According to India Today Axis My India, in the Chandni Chowk area, AAP is expected to win 9-10 seats. 

7:15 PM: According to Times Now, AAP could win as many as 43 seats and BJP follows them with 26. Times Now is the only channel which has given a considerable number of seats to the saffron party.

6:55 PM: According to India Today Axis My India, in North East Delhi, the Lok Sabha constituency of BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, AAP is expected to win 7-9 seats, followed by BJP with 1-3. Congress to draw blank again.

 6:52 PM: Another exit poll survey, carried put by NewsX, shows AAP could win as many as 50-56 seats, followed by BJP with 10-14 seats.

6:46 PM: According to Republic TV, the Aam Aadmi Party is predicted to return to power with 48-61 seats, followed by the BJP which could win 9-21 seats.

6:43 PM: In North West Delhi, the India Today Axis My India exit poll results show and AAP dominance, with Kejriwal-led party expected to win 7-9 of the 10 seats. The BJP could win 1-3 seats.

6:41 PM: In the Chandni Chowk area, ABP news predicts 7-9 seats for AAP, 1-3 for BJP and 0-1 for Congress.

6:33 PM: According to India Today-Axis My India exit poll results, AAP is expected to win at least 9 of the 10 seats in West Delhi. The BJP could get 1. Congress expected to draw a blank.

6:00 PM: The ruling AAP is expected to retain power and win seats ranging between 42-56 in the 70-member assembly, with more than 45 per cent vote share, according to opinion polls conducted by ABP-Cvoter. In the last assembly polls, the AAP had won 67 seats with over 54 per cent vote share. The BJP is expected to bag 10-24 seats, a jump nonethless compared to the three seats they won in 2015.

6:00 PM: As the voting draws to a close, the exit polls with start pouring in. According to Election Commission, the exit poll results can be published only after 6:30 PM.  

5:45 PM: Voting in Delhi improved marginally in the past one hour and was 44.52 per cent at 5 pm, according to the Election Commission’s Voter Turnout app.

5:15 PM: The national capital witnessed a sluggish voter turnout on Saturday with just over 42% voting coming out till 4 PM.
