Manipal Academy of Higher Education celebrated International Women’s Day on 10^th March, 2020. The program was collaborated with center for  women studies, MAHE and Cultural coordination committee MAHE.

The Chief Guest for the event was Mrs Shyamala S Kundar, Member, National Commission for Women, Government of India. She spoke about the importance of Women in all walks of life. She also shared her experience and  contribution of the MAHE to empower women as whole. 

On this occasion 3 women achievers from their respective fieldswere honored during the function. Mrs Arunakala  Rao on her achievements in Sports as marathon runner, Mrs SusheelaSalianfor her community contribution as traffic controller and Mrs Srimathi Hegde for her contribution in anganavadi and community health services

Public speaking and Collage competitions were held as pre events- based on  this years theme“Each for Equal”. Many of the Staff members and Students participated to share the message of each for equal.

Mrs Vasanthi R Pai, First Lady of Manipal presided over the function. In her Presidential address, she stressed that women are equally capable as men in all spheres of life. Dr Parvathi Bhat Medical Superintendent of Dr TMA Pai Hospital and Mrs Indira S Ballal, Home maker and Philanthropist were the  Guests of Honour at the function. Dr Parvati Bhat, spoke about the theme and how women empowerment progressing. She also highlighted that MAHE is proud of achieving   Men  -women employment  ratio with an   average of  1:1.5 in all areas.   Dr H S Ballal , Pro Chancellor and Dr H Vinod Bhat, Vice Chancellor graced  the occasion as other dignitaries on the stage.   In the end there was cultural program by various institutes of MAHE.

The whole program was sponsored by Syndicate Bank, I-ON, and Darsh Sports and the main Sponsor, Mr Bhaskar Hande, General Manager, Syndicate Bank was present at the function.

MAHE also planned women day celebration as ayearlong program by educating and creating  awareness  of women’s right ,legal issues and cyber safety for women in association with  center for women studies, Department of commerce and  National Commission for Women, Government of India.
