“Amrutha Book Exhibition campaign and Documentary Screening” at University Evening College, Mangaluru

Mangalore: Kannada and Sanskriti Department, Bengaluru, and Karnataka Sahithya Academy, Bengaluru and University Evening College, Mangaluru have joined and “Amrutha Bharathige kannadadarathi” a Amritha book Exhibition Campaign and Documentary Screening was organized jointly with a Variety Entertainment Competition on the occasion of Azaadi ka Amrith Mahotsav on Friday 12th August 2022 at Ravindra Kala Bhavan.

The chief guest Mr. Keshav Bangera, lecturer of  Narayana Guru college  gave a prologue and he expressed that spirit of freedom should be in our hearts. He gave the picture of great freedom fighters like Karnad Sadashiva Rao and Kudmul Rangarao and said that one must remember their great sacrifice.

Dr. Subhashini Srivatsa – Principal of University Evening College, Mangalore inaugurated the Documentary Screening and gave a tribute to our great freedom fighters who fought for 2 centuries to bring Independence to our Nation. This programme is most unique as it is organized in a heritage building the Ravindra Kala Bhavan constructed during 1920 where our Noble Laureate Poet Rabindranath Tagore had visited the building and is named after him. Today, this stage is a platform to present the books of freedom struggle of our entire nation.

Book Sale Exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Madhav M K, Co-ordinator of MA Tulu. The programme was composed by Subhashchandra Kanvatheertha, Lecturer of Tulu department. Shri Harish Librarian of Kannada and Sanskriti Department, Dr. B. V. Vasantkumar, President of Karnataka Sahithya Academy, Dr. Rohinaksha Shirlalu, member Moderator of Karnataka Sahithya Academy and Kariyappa N, Registrar of Karnataka Sahithya Academy were present.

University Evening College organized a variety entertainment competition for Undergraduate and Post graduate teaching and non-teaching staff. The competition was Judged by Dr. Sudha N Vaidya, HOD of Commerce department, University college, Mangaluru, Dr. Yathish Kumar, Co-ordinator, Department of GST and Dr. Jayaraj, Principal, Constituent College of Mangalore University, Nelyadi. First place was bagged by PG Tulu and Konkani department lecturers and the second place by UG department lecturers. The programme was composed by Ashalatha, Lecturer department of Kannada. Lecturers - Rizwan of Commerce dept and Jayaprakash of English department have organized the programme.
