Print Manipal : My advice to the students that is to follow the passion and do not let ambition get better passion. There is fine difference between ambition and passion, said Anil Sharma, Executive Vice President – Human Resources and Learning Services, Hotel Division, ITC Ltd.
He was addressing during the annual day celebration of Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA), a constituent institution of Manipal Universtiy on Thursday at Fortune Inn Valley View Hotel.
He said that in talking about the ambition and passion, in ambition you have to do better than the other person, but passion is your own and one can be better than you yourself. So enjoy doing what you are passionate about. Follow the guts, follow your dreams and follow your convictions as well, he added.
He advised students that failures were important to learn. Embrace failures because failures are good teachers.
Prof. Parvadhavardhini Gopalakrishnan, Principal of WGSHA welcomed the gatherings. He presented the annual report for the year with highlighting achievements, awards and prizes won by the students in various competitions. He also highlighted the various guests visits, conferences and workshops, seminars organized by the college and others.
During the occasion Neil George, Ex-Senior Vice President, Acquisitions and Development, Africa and Middle East, Marriott Development was felicitated with the annual Distinguished Alumnus Award 2017. He recalled fond memories of the time he spent in the WGSHA and appreciated the excellent growth and development of the WGSHA and Manipal University.
