Udupi : Architect of Indian Republic Union Constitution Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was not only a person but a power. He never belongs to certain particular community. His contribution remained to all communities and castes of the society. Ambedkar emphasized on the construction of a virtual bridge between all classes of the society. His vast education, movement and association have the role model for all society in India, said T. Venkatesh, Deputy Commissioner of Udupi District.

He addressed after the inauguration of Interaction program on Dr. B. R. Ambedkar held at Milagres College Audio Visual Hall with the collaboration of Department of Information, said that Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was a jurist, social reformer and politician as well and served India’s first law Minister of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. His efforts to eradicate social evils and caste restrictions were remarkable. His reputation as a scholar led to his appointment as free India’s first Law Minister and chairman of the committee responsible to draft a constitution for Independent India.

Born to Bhimabai Ramji on 14^th April, 1891, after his father’s retirement moved to Satara and later his mother’s death, father remarried and shifted to Bombay in 1906. Throughout his childhood, Ambedkar faced the stigmas of caste discrimination. Hailing from the Hindu Mahar caste, his family was viewed as untouchable by upper classes.

Prior to the programme of Interaction, T. Venkatesh inaugurated the exhibition of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s pictures at Milagres College Library Hall by cutting the ribbon.

District Information Officer Rohini K gave the key note address. Rev Fr. Dr. Prakash Anil Castelino Campus Director of Milagres College also spoke during the occasion.

Earlier Dr. Gerald Pinto Principal of Milagres College welcomed the gatherings. The resource persons Shivsunder of Bangaluru and Veneeth Rao of MCM College were present. Prof Cyril Mathias Convener of the programme also present on the dais.

Prof Cyril Mathias proposed vote of thanks and Dr. Jayaram Shettigar compered the inaugural programme. Students of various neighboring colleges were participated in the day long programme.
