Udupi : The state government under Siddaramaiha as chief minister has released Rs. 21 crore for various development projects, said Pramod Madhwaraj District in charge Minister and Minister of Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment on Friday, 24^th February, 2017.

He was speaking to media persons at the Press Club, the minister said that at Thimmannu Kudru in Kemmannu Grama Panchayat, Rs 5 crore will be utilized for bridge, Rs. 5 crore for Ambagilu-Manipal-Udyavar four lane road, Rs. One crore for the construction of duct and divider on Ambagilu-Manipal-Udyavar-Malpe road, Rs. 2 crore for Brahmavar-Barkur Road and Rs. 2 crore for widening the Kenjur-Nelkur Road. Rs. 24.10 crore spent for developmental projects.

In regard to diesel subsidy to the fishermen, the subsidy amount would be transferred directly into the bank account of mechanized boat users. The subsidy amount increased from Rs. 7 to Rs 9.40 per litre. Rs. 100 crore and additional fund for diesel subsidy Rs. 20 crore, altogether Rs. 120 crores released by the state government is the history of the government.

More than 10000 mechanized boats in Maharastra, 7700 boats in Gujarat and in Karnataka only 3600 mechanized boats, Karnataka government providing 90,000 leters of diesel per person every year also record compared to BJP ruled states of Maharastra and Gujarat.

The government had paid the interest subsidy rate of Rs. 2.77 crore in 2012/13 and Rs. 6.55 crore from 2013/14 to 2015/16. He said that around 10,780 beneficiaries have been benefited by the state government. The Union government should bear the responsibility of releasing funds for subsidy. In regard to this Minister said that he had written letter to central government which the price increased by central government.

He said that Karnataka Fisheries Department and Malpe Development Committee will organize ‘Matsya Mela’ from 3^rd March to 5^th March at Malpe Beach. The main objective of the mela is to create awareness among the public about the importance of fish which have exhibition and sale of fish products, ready to eat fish, aquarium fish and accessories, scientific information, opportunities in fisheries sectors, exhibition of fish related industries and cultural programmes.

Meanwhile, the State level Yuva Jana mela and the Swami Vivekananda State Youth Award distribution programmes will be also be held at the Indoor Stadium Ajjarkad, Udupi on same day on 3^rd to 5^th February, 2017.

Speaking about the quarry in DC transfer, Minister said that he have no role in transfer of DC. It is the decision of the government which normally exists. The outgoing DC told that he was not happy with the decision in regard to the transfer so early. The present newly appointed DC, Priyanka Mary Francis has good experience of the district. She can well aware of the problems of Udupi district. She can deliver the best administration for the district, Minister said.
