Manipal : Education has only way for us to improve our developmental initiatives for the citizen of India. At the same time we also need the industrial development, said Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, Minister for Medical Education, Government of Karnataka.

In his chief guest address on inauguration of Preconference Workshop of Physiocon – 2017 on Critical Care Physiotherapy of School of Allied Health Science (SOAHS) held at Chaitya Hall, Furtune Inn, Valley View Hotel here on Tuesday, 28^th February, 2017 he said that our strength is manpower which we have more than 130 crore population need Industrial revolution and need to convert our strength. There has needed to get quality education for the poor people.

He said that Manipal University doing excellent efforts in the field of Health education since 50 years which was the dream and vision of Dr. T. M. A. Pai and he had great visionary that the Manipal Institutes developed so great. We have lot of scope for Physiotherapy in all aspects as well and comprehensive health care to the society. There will be lot of opportunities for the students of Physiotherapy, he said.

The present government to be looking for more medical colleges in district headquarters of the state in order to give chance to poor students of the state and to provide maximum medical seats to the poor. It will be the responsibility of the government to uplift poor students of the state as well, he said.

Dr. H. S. Ballal Pro Chancellor of Manipal University also spoke during the occasion and said that more than Rs 16 crore has provided for the poor patients in the Manipal University for their medical expenses and through medical health cards for the poor people Rs. 50,000 will be made available.

The programme started with invocation by Ms. Shashwati of Final Year BPT student. Dr. H. Vinod Bhat welcomed the gatherings. Dr. Iftekhar Ali gave introduction of the workshop. Dr. B, Rahashekar gave introduction of the chief guest.

Dr. Vaishali K. proposed vote of thanks and Abraham Samuel Babu Faculty of Physiotherapy compered the programme. Dr. Narayana Sabhabit Registrar, Dr. B. Rajashekar Dean of School of Allied Health Science and Dr. Surendra Shetty Deputy Pro Chancellor of Manipal University were present on the dais.
