Udupi : On the occasion of the centenary Birth Anniversary of first prime minister of India, late Smt. Indira Gandhi, Udupi district Mahila Congress Committee under the Indira Gandhi Shatha Sambrama banner various programmes to be organized, said Smt Veronica Cornelio President of Udupi district Mahila Congress.

Speaking to media persons at Udupi Press Club on Thursday, 9^th March, she said on the occasion of the celebrations statue of Indira Gandhi to be unveiling, Overall women achievers in the district under Priyadarshini Award to be given in every year, Indira House project for those who not able to get house from the government etc.

Moreover, congress women will visit aged homes and other destitute homes and provide basic facilities and programmes in relate to health to be conducted, she said.

In ten block women congress committee’s ten achievers will be selected and will be facilitated as per the recommendation from the block women congress committees. Various programs like Sports and cultural programmes to be organized  for workers of congress party. Various competitions like quiz competition on Indira Gandhi, drawing, elocution and other programmes to be conducted on the occasion of centenary birth celebrations of Indira Gandhi.

She said all these programmes to be conducted throughout the year on the occasion.

The inauguration of Centenary celebrations of late Indira Gandhi will be held on Saturday, 11^th March, 2017 at Town Hall, Udupi at 11 am. The valedictory programme to be held on 19^th November, 2017 which will be inaugurated by Pramod Madhwaraj Minister for Sports, Fisheries and Youth Empowerment. Gopal Poojary MLA of Byndoor, district congress committee president and President of KSRTC Nigam, Vinay Kumar Sorake former minister and MLA of Kaup, K. Pratapchandra Shetty MLC, MA Gaffoor of Minority commission, former MLA Gopal Bhandary and State Women Congress leaders and other leaders of the district will participate during the valedictory programme. Meanwhile World Women Day also celebrated on that day.
