Udupi : All the private buses in the district should keep seat reserved for women and senior citizens compulsorily for them and should be followed the same, said Priyanka Mary Francis Deputy Commissioner of Udupi District.

She was speaking at Rajathadri, A. B. Vajapayi Hall, Manipal during the Regional Transport Authority (RTA)  meeting on Tuesday, 21^st March, 2017 that private buses should receive the bus ticket rate which fixed by the R.T.O. She also said that the height of the bus footboard should be reduced in order to help for the women and senior citizens. The private buses should follow the route timings accordingly which fixed by the R.T.O.

Suresh Shetty of Karkala Pragathi Seva Committee said that the R.T.O. meetings not conducted since several months. We need reasons for the delay to conduct the meeting. Some private buses take more ticket fare than the fixed rate by the R.T.O. When the R.T.O. increases the bus fare, then R.T.O. should consult the public and discuss the increasing rate of bus tickets.

Ramesh of Ambagilu said that there are more buses to run on the route of Ambagilu and Kalsanka Udupi earlier years. But due to various reasons the buses are not operated in this route. Even though now the road is excellent, the private buses are not enough run on this route. We need justice that for the convenience of the public, especially for the students and children, we need KSRTC buses in this route.

Suresh Nayak Private Bus Owners Association President said that on the route of Udupi and Karkala, KSRTC buses not operating the specified timings. Due to that the private buses running under heavy loss. Not only that on Sunday’s the KSRTC buses carry on special trips to Malpe beach without the permit. We have a burden of heavy taxes to the government. If private buses running under losses, it would be difficult to pay the taxes. He asked to maintain the strict allotted timings of the KSRTC buses routes.

The residents of Vasuki Nagar and Panchanbettu demanding KSRTC buses that private buses not operating frequently on this route. We also need bus stops between Korangrapady and Alevoor which helps for the public.
