Udupi : In Kota Police Station limit people are relieved  with the arrest of two chain snatchers  in Brahmavar on 20^th March, 2017.

 K. T. Balakrishna District SP in his Press conference in SP office speaking to media persons on Thursday, 23^rd March, said that since 6 months in Kota Police Station limits every now and then chain catching cases reported and so Police in the areas of Kota, Saligrama, Karkada, Sashtana, Mabukala special police rounds were established from 6 pm to 9 pm. On 20^th March 2017, in order to catch the culprits of chain snatchers, the police had given duty to Pradeep Nayak of Kota Police Station in special police roundup position.

 Around 9 pm on 20^th March, two chain snatchers tried to snatch chain of woman at Karkada area in without number plate motor bike two riders with high speed. On duty policeman Pradeep Nayak saw the high speeding riders and followed that motor bike. They saw the Pradeep Nayak who following them and began to speed the motor bike riding further more. Police man Pradeep Nayak had doubt with these bike riders and called to his friends at Brahmavar Police station.

The motor bike riders then turned to Barkur Road without proceeding towards Brahmavar city area. Pradeep Nayak along with the help of members of public succeeded to take in their custody near the Kalikamba Temple and handed over to Brahmavar Police for further investigation.

The accused identified as Madhukar Kharvi (26) son of Sanjeev Kharvi, Nandayya House, Behind Navunda Petrol Pump Station, Kundapura Taluk, Udupi and other Nagesh Kharvi (23), son of Rama Kharvi, a resident of Nandayya House, Behind Navunda Petrol Pump Station, Kundapura taluk, Udupi district.

SP said that during the interrogation with the accused about the crime, the accused said that they had committed four such chain snatching cases. The stolen one chain was kept in Navunda Society for the loan  and other chains were sold at Mangaluru and Bangaluru in Athika Gold Jewellery.

The police already seized one motor bike valued about Rs. 40,000/  and one stolen gold chain. The accused produced in the court and accused remanded in to the custody for further investigation. There is pending of recovery sold gold in Bangaluru and Mangaluru.
