Udupi : International standard and with the modern materials Rs.2 crore valued well equipped and vast Gym will be started at Udupi, said Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister for Sports, Fisheries and Youth Empowerment,  Karnataka State.

He was speaking after inaugurating District Youth Convention held at Tenkanidiyoor First Grade College, Tenkanidiyoor near here which was organized Youth Empowerment and Sports Ministry, Nehru Youth Centre, Udupi and Government First Grade College on Saturday, 25^th March, 2017.

He said in Karnataka state at four places International standard gyms with American gyms related high technology materials with the expense of Rs. 2 crore will be provided with very low expenses facilities will be provided.

During the present state budget for the youth, announced two projects of Yuva Chiatanya and Yuva Shakthi Self Help Sangha with reserve of Rs. 20 crores in the state, which Rs. 1 lakh will be given to all urban sports associations in the state. For the Yuva Self Help Sangha scheme Rs 5 crore allotted which like Women Self Help scheme the amount will be distributed for the development of Youth organizations in the state.

The state government for the sports department last year Rs 140 crores were given and under this budget Rs. 285 crore will be given. The allotted money for the sports department will be given from 1^st April this year.

In the budget for the Women Sport Hostel and swimming pool Rs. 1 crore each were given. Due to the Brahmavar Taluk, the Nejar Ground at Kallianpupr will be developed as Taluk Sports Ground.

During the occasion Sports materials and Cheques were distributed for the youth associations. Sheela K. Shetty Zilla panchayat Vice President, Janardhan Thonse ZP member, Jacintha D’Souza Convener of Nehru Youth Centre, Prof. Balakrishna Hegde Principal of Tenkanidiyoor Govt. First Grade College, Prakyath Shetty Entrepreneur and other were present.

Raghavendra Prabhu JCI Trainner spoke on the role of youth in the Urban development. Tenkanidiyoor college lecturer Prof Prasad Rao welcomed the gatherings. Duggappa compered the programme.
