Udupi : Bharatiya Janata Party, Udupi district demanded resignation of district in charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj that the Congress Party supporting the sand mining mafia in the district, said Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, President of BJP Udupi district unit.

Addressing to media persons at BJP office at Kunjibettu here on Monday, 3^rd April, 2017 Mattar Rathnakar Hegde said that Congress supports illegal sand mining going on in Udupi district, meanwhile the attack on Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Priyanka Mary Francis, Assistant Commissioner Shilpa Nag and other task force members near Kundapur on 2^nd April night. This attack on DC seems to be first case in the district. The attack on DC happened due to the Congress members are running illegal sand mining in the district since four years, he alleged.

In relate to sand mining policy, BJP protested on illegal sand mining policies of the government. The efficient District Deputy Commissioner done her duty to stop illegal sand mining in the district. But it would be unfortunate that district in charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj instead supporting DC, he supporting the sand mafia in the case of attack on her.

In Udupi district the law and order situation has completely collapsed. The district in charge minister should hold meeting in this regard. But unless he supposed to come to the district, he simply blaming DC that her visit in sand mining areas without protection. The official always be official even though travelling in private vehicle. She had done her duty to catch illegal sand miners. It is information that Pramod Madhwaraj blaming DC in this regard. Since Congress rule in state from 2013, seven DC had transferred.

Mattar alleged that Pramod Madhwaraj should give the resignation immediately on moral ground in relate to attack on DC and other officials on duty.

Government should hold the meeting of the officials and should take immediate action on attackers by the sand mining mafia. If there is no protection for the officials, how one can give protection for the people, he said.

He said we have all information that the attack on DC and other officials due to the support from the Congress workers and Congress  behind the attack on DC.

Raghupathy Bhat former MLA said that it is due to Congress and especially Pramod Madhwaraj responsible to the growth of sand mining mafia. During BJP rule there was no such like that. It is completely due to Pramod Madhwaraj the problem of availability of sand created. The district was in charge by many ministers like Jayaprakash Hegde, Dr. V.S. Acharya, Vasanth V Salian, Vinay Kumar Sorake, Kota Srinivas Poojary and others, but this type of attack on government top officials never happened. It has happened during the time of district in charge minister of Udupi by Pramod Madhwaraj. He should resign from district in charge minister other wise the chief minister should remove him from his ministership, Bhat alleged.

There was protest by the BJP at Clock tower, near Service Bus station, Udupi held by BJP against the attack on the Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner. BJP demanding the resignation of Pramod Madhwaraj who completely failed in his duty as district in charge minister. They also demanded the arrest of accused in attacking on DC and other officials. Raghupathy Bhat called Pramod Madhwaraj as nalayak which means unworthy that he is not fit to be a minister as well as district in charge minister. Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, Raghupathy Bhat, Suprasad Shetty, Kuthyaru Naveen Shetty, Katpady Shanker Poojary, Suresh Nayak Kulaidy, Upendra Nayak, Akshith Shetty Hega, Nayana Ganesh, Geethanjali Suvarna and other were present during the protest meet.
