Udupi : The Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood will organize proper skill Development training to about five lakh youth in the state in order to get employment, said Priyanka Mary Francis, Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district.

She was addressing media persons here, she said the Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood would give training to unemployed youth aged between 18 and 35 in 39 different subjects. The department also carries out a survey and facilitates registration of these youth across the state. The programme has been initiated as part of the state government’s skill development programme for the year 2017-18.

She said the programme will be taken up in all the three taluk headquarters of Udupi district. The funds of Rs. Five lakh have been earmarked for the purpose. The unemployed youth could participate in registration camps to register their names to be held by the district administration in three taluk headquarters for 10 days coinciding with the launch of the portal.

A web portal in this regard titled “kaushakar.com” would be inaugurated by the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on 15^th May. The youth could register their names and other details on the portal or in an app to be released soon.

Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister of State for Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment would inaugurate the registration camp at the Board High School here on 15^th May. Halady Srinivas Shetty MLA of Kundapur will inaugurate at the Government PU College Hall in Kundapur and local MLA of Karkala will inaugurate at the Taluk Panchayat Hall, Karkala.

She said that the aspirants are eligible to register their names and Aadhar number is most important. The Aadhaar kit would be made available for those who do not have Aadhaar card to get it done, authentic identity is must.

She also said that there are 39 various skill development programmes. The members are taken in the ration 1:3 as against the target. This is an attempt to converge various development schemes on single platform, besides a mobile app will be introduced.

Retorting to a query on water scarcity the district, she said that more than 60 villages are being supplied water by tankers. The situation in rural areas of the district is much better than the urban areas. All precautionary measures were taken to prevent drought by placing planks much earlier into vented dams in the district.

Retorting to a query on National Highway at Padubidri juinction, she said that land acquisition for the upcoming construction of the NH 66 at Padubidri junction is in the final stages. Most of the acquisition process has been completed and the compensation is also given. The demolition of buildings will be done and some owners demolishing their buildings with their own, she said.

Another retorting to a query on safety of school children during the transport, she said the precautionary measures introduced for the safety of the school children during the transport and meeting of all school principals and headmasters and the vehicles drivers in the district is called shortly.

Regarding fencing stone crusher quarry places, she said the units should be compulsorily fenced for renewal of the licences. The department itself has taken up the fencing of three defunct quarries.
