Pramod Madhwaraj inaugurates Brahat Udyog Mela (Job Fair) at Udupi

Udupi : The Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, government of Karnataka organized one day Udyog Mela and Skill Development Training programme at the Udupi District Indoor Stadium, Ajjarkad near here on Friday, 19th May, 2017.
The programme began with an invocation. Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister for Youth Empowerment and Sports inaugurated the Udyog Mela and Skill Development Training programme by lighting the lamp.
In his address, Pramod Madhwaraj said that Youth Power is very important. India has the world’s largest youth population. Our youth are asset only if they are skilled and oriented to serve the nation. Youth are very precious. We should make use of our potential. In India about 65% of population is youth. The youth should productivity of the country when the use of youth power. In India more than 85% of the children drop out of the school by tenth standard. We have only 15% youth are graduates. The government should see the productivity from the youth in the country.
He said that since congress government in power, we helped the youth for their skill development with the training. The government will support youth in getting jobs in private companies. After eight years, the state government recruited several persons in lineman, PDO, Surveyors, teachers and so on and recruited people for 1 lakh posts in the last four years.
We should encourage youth to be self employed. About 70% of the people are looking for self employment. The students of the district are very much ahead in education in all over India. They have vast resources. The government aims at channelizing the dynamism of Youth in nation building activities. The main objective of this program is to bridge skills deficit and promote employability across Karnataka in multitude of sectors, he said.
He said that mega job fairs have been organized across Karnataka by the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Government of Karnataka whose vision is to link un-skilled job seekers with potential employers by skilling them.
Mandamus Education Academy has been provided with an opportunity to be the implementing partner towards achieving overall objective of this program. Mandamus provides skilling and employment opportunities to youth from marginalized sections of the society. Candidates will be trained by Mandamus Academy free of cost.
A diverse group of more than 100 companies from across India will be participating, conduct interviews and shall be offering an opportunity to work with them. Jobs on offer are from sectors such as BFSI, IT, ITeS, Retail, Hospitality, Sports and Green Jobs. As many as 1500 jobs seekers registered at the job fair. There was huge rush of students from Udupi district at the job fair.
Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje, President of Udupi CMC, Narasimhamurthy President of Udupi Urban Development Authority, Kishan T. S. Managing Director and CEO of Mandamus, Bangaluru, Dr. Roshan Kumar Shetty Deputy Director for Sports and Youth Empowerment department were present on the dais.
Dr. Roshan Kumar Shetty welcomed the gatherings.
