Udupi : Interaction with Clean environment, House hold clean environment, Solid and Liquid waste management awareness, distribution of compost pipes programme held under collaboration with JCI Kallianpura at Joseph Rebello House compound, 16^th Cross Road, Rajeev Nagar, Nejar, Kallianpur near here on Saturday, 20^th May, 2017.

After sapling mango plant in the area, the chief guest of the occasion Priyanka Mary Francis said that household waste generation and storage public awareness and attitudes to waste can affect the population’s willingness to cooperate and participate in adequate waste management practices. Composting is an excellent method of recycling biodegradable waste from an ecological point of view and can use of compost organic in agriculture.

She said this has the best program to awareness on household waste. The programme has been the best attitude by the organizers.  Kallianpur grama should be the role model to other areas in utilizing on composting house hold waste. There shall be need to control the solid and liquid waste management problems. We should give challenge to Solid Waste and Liquid waste management which has been serious issue.

 Solid and liquid waste creates serious environmental problems that affect health of humans and animals and caused by inadequate disposal of waste can be expressed by contamination of surface and ground water through leachate, soil contamination through direct waste contact or leachate, air pollution by burning wastes, spreading of diseases by different vectors like birds insects and rodents, or uncontrolled release of methane by anaerobic decomposition of waste, she said.

JCI Kallianpura President Jc. JFD Prashanth Acharya presided over the programme. Jc. Joseph Rebello Convener of the programme as well as state resource person gave the keynote address. Joseph said that Solid waste management has been integral part of every human society. Human activities create waste and it is the way these wastes are handled, stored, collected and disposed off which can pose risks to the environment and to public health. Where intense human activities concentrate such as in urban centers, appropriate and solid waste management are of utmost importance to allow healthy living conditions for the population.

Srinivas Rao Zilla Panchayat official spoke on the need of the solid waste management in rural areas specially in order to solve the serious problems. He said that it would be the programme of the government to give awareness on solid waste management. Under the JCI Kallianpura the attitude of the sold waste management programme appreciated.

Sri Raghunath another official of the Zilla Panchayat was the resource person. The Compost Pipe units were distributed by Mohan Raj, Joint Director of Agriculture Department. The information broacher’s were released by Jayakar Suvarna President of Udupi district Working Journalists Association. The household wastes how to compost in compost pipe unit for organic fertilizer preparation which demonstrated by Veronica Cornelio President of District Mahila Congress under the supervision by Joseph Rebello and guests present.

Earlier after the JCI invocation, Prashant Acharya welcomed the gatherings. Jagadish Kemmannu, founder President of JCI, Kallianpura compered the programme.
