Udupi : Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses not maintaining their time schedule and competing with the private buses was dominated the issue by the private bus operators in the district Regional Transport Authority (RTA) meeting held at Rajathadri, DC Office here at Manipal on Wednesday, 7^th June, 2017.

The KSRTC bus services were introduced in the city as well as other rural areas of the district since last year. Radha Das, private bus operator said that even though she had permit from RTA to run buses from Honnai village to Udupi, KSRTC bus drivers were mismanaging the time schedule and were operating services just a couple of minutes prior of her buses which resulted heavy loss for her. She said she provided the existing time schedule by the RTA. She complained to the KSRTC Depot Manager at Nittur, Udupi and other KSRTC officials, but nothing had done for her.

Sudhakar Shetty, private bus operator also said that KSRTC buses were not following the schedule timings given for them by RTA, but not following the schedule. Private bus operators would lose revenue.

Suresh Nayak Koyiladi, private bus operator said that in some areas the schedule given by RTA which will result clashes with KSRTC bus drivers and conductors. He said it is better to nationalize private buses.

Jayashanth, KSRTC officer replied and said that there might have very few indiscretions have taken place. He had directed the all KSRTC bus drivers and conductors to follow the rules and scheduled time table of the routes. He also said that instructions were given to them that not to fight with private bus drivers and conductors. There have no public grievances or complaints against our services in the district.

Lakshminarayan Bhat from Sringeri urged the RTA to reduce the bus density on the Agumbe Ghat Road especially during the peak hours, so that the heavy traffic could be solved.

The Deputy Commissioner of the district Priyanka Mary Francis directed the KSRTC officer to hold an orientation programme for KSRTC bus drivers and conductors. There were plenty of complaints received in regard to the maintaining time schedule by the KSRTC buses. The rules were the similar for KSRTC buses and private buses, All should maintain the time schedule given by the RTA.

Mr. Kulkarni RTA officer requested to private bus operators that private buses not to park on the road of Manipal and Udupi during night.
