Udupi : Pramod Madhwaraj, District in-charge Minister inaugurated new RCC houses near the National Highway on the newly built lay out called Hosa Belaku, Hosa baduku in Kodankoor ward of Udupi CMC on Sunday, 9^th July, 2017 for the tribal migrants.

In his inaugural address, Pramod Madhwaraj said that since two decades the migrant workers living here are happy today that these workers get their own homes. Under the guidance from Udupi CMC, under state and Union government’s housing projects and under the cooperation from Rajeev Gandhi Grameena Vasathi Nigam and NGO’s technical cooperation, it has possible to construct 29 new RCC houses for the migrant workers here.

He said they got the houses, but need to keep hygienic shelter for them. The members of these communities should provide education to their children without any gender discrimination. It is no doubt that due to proper education will guarantees a good future. The area should be plastic free and should be banned. There should not be any kind of road encroachment and the area should be kept neat and tidy.

Pramod Madhwaraj ordered deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis to draft BPL and Adhaar Card for the residents.

Speaking to the gathering, Priyanka Mary Francis said that Anganawadi should be started at the earliest for children residing here as well as she called to give importance to educate their children. The migrants here have been living with their relatives since two to three decades and they have not a single family has a ration card neither an ID card. The district administration issued orders to shift these migrants to other places to keep hygiene in the area.

The total area of the layout is 55 cents which was a purchased by a private party. The houses built in two or three cents each have two rooms and attached bathroom and toilet facility.

Under Social Welfare Department the layout roads will provided at a cost of 50 lakhs. Street lights, concrete road, drainage, lights and water facilities have been provided. The layout is designed by Karthik Shetty Alevoor of Kinfratech and Mohammed Saif of Plush Living.

Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje CMC President, Manjunathaiah Municipal Commissioner, Sadhya Tilakraj Vice President of CMC, Shobha Kakkunje President of CMC standing Committee, Janaki Ganapti Shettigar Kadankoor ward councilor, Janardhan Tonse member of Zilla Panchayat, Yuvaraj former CMC President, Narayan Kundar, Shantaram Salvankar, Janardhan Bhandarkar and other CMC officials were present. Community leaders Ramayya, Lakshman Kari, Mariswami Gadag and others were present.
