Udupi : The Investiture ceremony of Milagres College Students Welfare Council for the 2017/18 academic year held at Milagres Tri-centenary Hall, Kallianpur near here on Wednesday, 19^th July, 2017.

The programme began with invocation by the students of the college. Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo Correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions was presided over the programme. Dr. Norbert Lobo Associate Professor in Economics at St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, Ex President of AMUCT and Vice President of AIFUCTO was the investiture officer for the inauguration of Students Welfare Council.

Prof. Annamma, one of the Director of SWC welcomed the gatherings. Dr. Vincent Alva Principal of Milages College gave introductory speech with brief and gave gratitude to the Dr. Norbert Lobo and other concerned.

During the occasion CA Shakshi Mallya, Alumni of the College was felicitated along with her parents for her achievements in succeeding Chartered Accountant course in the first attempt of the examination. She was felicitated traditionally with shawl, garland, basket of fresh fruits and memento by the dignitaries of the dais. CA Shakshi Mallya gave gratitude for the Milagres College as well as Milagres English Medium Institutions for her success in her educational career and said she is always be Milagrean and offer any help or guidance for the students in the field of education as well. Prior to the felicitation programme, Dr. Herald Monis HOD in Commerce Department gave introduction on CA Shakshi Mallya. She was secured 6^th Rank in Mangaluru University B.Com Examination in 2014.

The Principal Dr. Vincent Alva took pledge and oath from Prinsclie Gloria Lewis, the newly elected President of the Students Welfare Council of the college for the academic year 2017/18 and also from office bearers. Prior to the oath taking ceremony all the office bearers were given their respective office badge each by the directors of the SWC.

President of the SWC, Prinsclie Gloria Lewis was took pledge and oath from all the class representatives of the college. All the office bearers as well as class representatives took oath with lighting the candle which was the attraction.

The Investiture Officer, Dr. Norbert Lobo gave superb message on the occasion. He said that whatever you do is not important, but whatever you doing something are most important .Don’t tell students how to do things, tell them what to do and let them surprise for you with their results.  What important is the effort but not the result. I believe that a student’s leadership is motivated by his love for himself and other students, and a desire to keep on advancing ever on words into higher levels of being. Student’s leadership is an opportunity to inform, reform and transform the students. Leadership is not position. It is doing something.  Student’s leadership would be inspiration to influence something for the students, staff and the management, hence, communication of all the students is the leadership.  The various activities of the college should develop into confidence, refine and form character which demonstrates your commitments.

Dr. Norbert Lobo pointed out that the salaried people era will diminish. We can see in job market, more than 50% salaried jobs are losing. In the modern era, technology would be the villain of the job market. The scope of the jobs shadowed. As far as student’s welfare matters, students leaders should have the quality of appreciation, acknowledgement, adjusting and abiding one another.  He appreciated the motive and target of Shakshi Mallya and success in her education career.

Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo gave his presiding address and called the students to set a target and fulfill the goal of the career. He gave gratitude to the CA Shakshi Mallya and her parents, student’s welfare council officials and students at large. There are ample opportunities for the students and should make use of such opportunities and shine in the society and good citizen of the country.

Vinitha Crasta General Secretary proposed vote of thanks. Jyothsna Lewis and Salwa compered the programme. The programme winded up with singing the National Anthem
