Print Udupi : Kempe Gowda was responsible for the establishment and development of Bangaluru City and his contribution was great, said Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje, President of Udupi City Municipal Council.
She was speaking after inaugurating the programme of Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda of Bangaluru which was organized by district administration, Kannada and Cultural department along with Adi Udupi Government High School near here on Friday, 21st July, 2017, she said he was not only responsible to the development of Bangaluru, but also he developed the ponds and the other water resources and helped to the farmers. He got the vision of building a big futuristic city during a hunting expedition when he went towards Shivanasamudra from Yelahanka. His role in the development of Bangaluru has great and the students should follow his initiative in growth of villages, city, our land and the nation.
G. Anuradha, KAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district was the chief guest. The Nada Prabhu Kempe Gowda in five centuries back was laid the foundation for the development of Bangaluru which earlier it was Bangana kadu converted into now presently Silicon Valley of India. His role in growth of Bangaluru now also remembered and hence the government proposed to celebrated his memorial “Kempegowda Day for the first time in Karnataka.
The programme began with singing of Nadageethe by Shankardas Chatkal. Kannada and Cultural department assistant director Ravi Kumar welcomed the gatherings. Shankerdas Chatkal compered the programme.
Nalina Devi M R Lecturer of Hiriyadka Government PU College was the resource person on the occasion.
During the occasion Bicycles were distributed to the students of the Adi Udupi Government High School by Meenakshi Bannanje and G Anuradha. Kavitha,Headmistress of the school. T. K. Ganesh Rao Secretary were present.
