KSRP 1700 km Cycling expedition ’Karnataka Darshan’ arrives in Udupi

Print Udupi : As many as 55 members of the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) are on a two week 1,700 km cyling expedition called ‘Karnataka Darshan’ arrived in Udupi on Friday evening. The expedition began from the Bidar on 12th July and will conclude in Bangaluru on 25th July, 2017.
K T Balakrishna welcomed the expedition team to the city which Udupi Cycling Club is hosting the guests here. The tour started from Bidar which cover 15 cities, 25 districts. The group set out planning to touch five tourism circuits in the state and it has already gone to Vijayapura and Hampi. The rally is been led by Bhaskar Rao, Additional Director General of Police, KSRP.
Speaking to media persons at Sri Krishna Math here, said that the expedition was organized first of its kind that there were too many resignations, suicides, deaths and the rally was organized to stimulate into activities of KSRP personnel. Due to the depression last number of police personnel left the jobs and many have died. The other issue of the rally will be to create awareness on environmental issues. During the expedition rally the group planted saplings wherever they stayed en route. The other issue of the expedition will be the awareness on environment. He said next year women would join the KSRP and already 125 women are being trained for the purpose. Two women battalions have been formed and they will be filled in phases.
The rally will culminated in front of the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on 25th July. The state chief Minister Siddaramaih and Minister of Sports Pramod Madhwaraj are expected to be present during the programme.
