The Washington D.C Bunts hosted BANA 2017 (bunts Association of North America) in Cancun, Mexico from July 1st - July 4th 2017. The BANA 2017 convention was a resounding Great success from Saturday, July 1st – Tuesday, July 4th, at the beautiful Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico.  Executive Committee of the Giant, efficacious BANA 2017 EVENT are President: Shweta Adyanthaya, Vice President: Rupak  Changkakoti, Vice President: Kirti Shetty Secretary: Kripa Shetty,Secretary: Tina Mally , Treasurer: Rasika Shetty & Treasurer: Santosh Shetty Youth Rep: Shefali  Hegde & Youth Committee are Deesha Adyanthaya, Impana Shetty, Rishab Shetty, Simran Shetty.

Bunts Community, spread all over the Globe are specially known to be HOTEL INDUSTRY are also popular Industrialists, in Drama Specially Bayalata, also Actor & Producers, Directors from Films & TV Industry namely Aishwaarya Rai, Shilpa Shetty, Suneil Shetty, Rohit Shetty etc. & Many More.

In USA there are many Regional BANA Groups like Mid-Atlantic (DC Washington, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia), Southern 1 (AL, GA, South Carolina), New England (Massachusetts, ME, NH, RI, VT), East Coast ( New York, New Jersey, Connecticut)  Midwest, Mountain Region,  Northwest ID, Montana, Oregon, Pacific ( AK, California, HI, NPacific , Southwest (Oklahoma, Texas) etc. BANA Event is held once every two years, started 1979-1980 in New York for the first time, by Past President Mr Shanker Shetty. This year it was 21st BANA 2017, hosted by DC, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia (Mid-Atlantic), who held it as in Cancun, Mexico, says Vice President: Rupak Changkakoti.

The BANA executive team was passionate about redesigning the BANA logo to visually communicate what the organization  represents to the community......phrases do you associate   with BANA....community, togetherness, legacy, connections, traditions, best of both worlds. The BANA Convention Schedule for 4 days was..... 1) Saturday, July 1, 2017 Registration Meeting & Fellowship..... Invocation & Welcome ceremony at Moonlight Terrace at Cancun Beach, Youth Group Nikki, Anirudh, Girish Shetty were  excellent & Commendable as they compared the event with other youth group of BANA 2017. Mr Girish Shetty & Mr Sarosh Shetty were students of Indira Gandhi Engineering College in Koparkhairne before settling in USA.  2) 2nd  July 2017 - Picnic at Barracuda Beach, Volley Ball, Basket Ball at the Beach (Many Region & Youth groups participated). Zumba,Bingo & Evening Entertainment: 7 Pm – Midnight - Women participant were from New Jersey, did dance performance, Solo by Anya, Verren Karate, Dance by Anuva & Prihana, Song Performance by Mala Shetty, Stand up Comedy by Aashish, Performance by Sneha, Eesha, Elan from Boston.

Also Prizes & Awards were given by President, Shweta Adyantaya, to awardees after heartfelt, Emotional speech. 3) July 3rd 2017 - General Body Meeting and Breakfast in morning & Dinner / Entertainment: 7 Pm – Midnight -Dress Code (Suggested) – Festive Cocktail Attire. 4. July 4, 2017 Breakfast and departures. says Kirti Shetty Announcing the winners of the 2017 BANA Academic Awards...The Lila N. Shetty Memorial  Scholarship to Awardee... Akaanksh Shetty  is the son of Amitha and Rathnakar Shetty of  Houston, TX. He will attend the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine in El Paso TX next fall.

KM Shetty Memorial SAT Prize,the award is given to Kiran Shetty, son of Vaishali and Tharun Shetty of Long Island, NY. Kiran will be attending Vanderbilt University in the Fall and plans on majoring in Biology.The Dr. Ajit Hegde Memorial Scholarship recipient, Ms. Varsha Malli is a biotechnology engineer from Mangalore. She is pursuing a MS in Occupational & Environmental Hygiene at Johns Hopkins University.

Mrs Shweta Adyanthaya, The President of BANA 2017 says, we highlight outstanding accomplishments from young Bunts across the country. Aashna Belenje, 14, (daughter of Sweeta and Sukesh Belenje of Saratoga, CA) won the Voice of Youth Advocates (VOYA)  teen poetry contest for 2016. Aditi Shetty, 18, (daughter of Drs. Sudhir Shetty and Madhavi  Naik of Kensington, MD) is the winner of the Olin Teague Scholarship for the continuation of an ongoing effort  to use impact basins on Mars to glean information about its early geologic history.

The Board thanks our outstanding outgoing directors – Suhana Rai (VA), Govind Shetty (TX), Ravi Shetty (CA) and Dr. Sanjay Shetty (MA) for their service, says Kripa Shetty, Secretary BANA 2017. Aasha Shetty, Who is Treasurer, of Mahila Vibhag, Bunts Sangha felt elated attending BANA 2017, in USA for the first time, her father into  Hotel business runs in New Mumbai. Saroja, Krishni, active member & Murli, Bhaskar & Shakuntala Shetty too felt the same.
