Udupi : “If the government officials fulfill their duty with honesty, the country’s problems could be solved and new changes in the society possible, said Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister for Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment along with district in-charge minister.
He was addressing after inaugurating the training programme organized by the District Administration on Indian Civil Service aspirants at Town Hall here on Monday, 4th August, 2017.
He said that in the republic system, people’s representatives are responsible to people. But the responsibility of the administration has been given to officials which to solve the issues faced by the people. Officials should be given free hand to administer within their legal limit. Politicians and officials with the interest of the people should work together. On certain difficult issues, the officials should not lose hope, he said.
Even though Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district leading first in education, Health and Human Resources, we can see appearing and passing the civil service examinations is very rare and few. Students are capable of facing the civil examinations but they do not prefer civil services. There should be need to give awareness and support at colleges and homes for the students. The government has been constructing a library in Udupi at a cost of Rs. 5 crore where books on civil services will be made available to the public, he said.
During the occasion, Nandini who got first rank and Civil Services Examination and Naveen Bhat who got 37th rank in Civil Services Examination in 2017 were felicitated. After the felicitation Nandini said that IAS called is not like iron seed, but it can be cracked with sheer dedication and willingness to serve the society. Confidence, calculated target, continuous effort and challenge will be the key factors to excel in the civil examinations. One should not regret to be in the rural areas but should take the examination as challenge as well, he said.
Naveen Bhat said that continuous practice and proper guidance in civil services examinations, one can see the success in the examination.
Priyanka Mary Francis said that it is easy to criticize from outside about the administration, but with the intention in mind with administration change, should work in administration and need to bring change. In Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district there is lack of joining the examination of civil services. There is shortage of staff in government offices in Udupi and D.K districts. The district administration will host the training sessions on civil services examinations during the last week of August. The students can apply through www.udupi.nic.in, she said.
During the occasion, District Superintendent of Police Dr. Sandeep Patil also addressed the gatherings.
Probationary IAS Officer Poovitha, Additional Deputy Commissioner Anuradha, Principal of G. Shanker First Grade College Prof. Jagadeesh Rao, Udupi Tahasildhar Maheshchandra, Parkala Lions Club President Harish, Devraj Aras Development Authority Officer Devraj were present during the occasion.
Kundapura Sub Divisional Officer Shilpanag welcomed the gatherings and Sports Department Assistant Director Dr. Rohan Kumar compered the programme.
