Udupi : The district witnessed the first ever Green protocol wedding held at Uchila near here on Sunday, 3^rd September, 2017.

The bridegroom Sudhakar, the member of Navachethana Yuvaka Mandala Kattegudde and bride Hrinakshi’s wedding held at Smt. Tumbe Karkera Hall which was become a model for future wedding receptions in the district to adhere to the green protocol.

Under the Swacch Udupi mission, as an initiative to make Udupi a garbage-free district campaign of the district administration to promote the green protocol concept received a major boost when wwedding ceremony and reception were held strictly adhering to the protocol.

Under the leadership of Dinakar Babu, Udupi district panchayat President, the wedding held with maintaining green protocol which will be the role model for the plastic less wedding.

The water and juice were served in steel glasses and the meals in plates by Deekshith Shetty Excellent Caterers of Ambagilu. No plastic or thermocol materials were used for decoration and natural flowers and eco friendly items were used during the wedding ceremony. Starting with printing of invitation cards to wedding ceremony end, there was no plastics were used in any circumstances.

The deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis send two PDO’s to confirm the ceremony of the wedding after receiving the message of the Green protocol wedding. After the confirmation of Green protocol wedding, Priyanka Mary Francis personally visited the wedding hall at Uchila and congratulated the newly wedded couple.

Speaking on the occasion Priyanka Mary Francis Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration has come up with the unique task wherein the district would be ensured as garbage free by 2^nd October, 2018, through increasing the garbage value and transforming every bit of garbage into productivity. The various youth association had received training in the scientific solid and liquid waste management. Now they should become soldiers in the Swacch Udupi Mission and so they should work very sincerely for the campaign.

She said that the district administration will felicitate the them with appreciation certificates and also those who host their weddings by adopting the green protocol.

This wedding will be role model for all other organizers to become garbage free district prior to 2^nd October, 2018.
