Udupi : A special review meeting of the Zilla Panchayat was held to discuss in relate to National Highway 66 problems at Dr. V.S. Acharya Hall, Rajathadri Manipal on Monday, 11^th September, 2017.

Even though there was shortage of the quorum of the meeting, it was decided the meeting and Janardhan Thonse, ZP member raided the issue in relate to the unfinished service roads at Santhekatte Kallianpur, Karavali Juncition and Ampalpadi and asked the chair and the officials of NHAI about the steps taken on problems encountered by pedestrians and other things also.

But due to the language problems, Vijay Kumar Project Director of NHAI was not able to answer the same.  Even though he said that nearly 83 km of highway between Talipadi and Kundapur was completed out of 93 km and remaining construction of NH66 work is under process. If any proposed changes, I will help to draw the attention of the NHAI authorities about that, he said.

As per the proposal given by the state government, the authority has acquired 4 meters land in residential areas and in Padubidri 45 meters of land acquired.

Even though IRB construction representative Yogindra said that in support to Vijay Kumar has given option that he will translate in Kannada, later all members walked out in the midst of the meeting.

Dinakar Babu President, Sheela Shetty Vice President, Janardhan Thonse member, Pratapchandra Shetty MLC., and others were present.

Talking to media persons after the inconclusive meeting, Dinakar Babu said that Zilla Panchayat served notice NHAI for their negligence in the past and so the project director attended the meeting without the translator. We have expected the all required details from him. But we are unable to get the information on National Highways in the district.

Drainage works have been kept pending at Byndoor, Kundapura. As we told to NHAI about the drainage problems, they said it needs to be done by the state government, although NHAI is to blame for this failure, Dinakar Babu said.

He requested to all the officers in all the meetings that all information should be made available during the meeting. But, all officers in all the department not producing details or whatsoever during the meetings which great concern for us for the development of the district. These government officers not cooperating the Zilla Panchayat.

Dinakar Babu said that the cancelled meeting to be held in next week and date is not yet to decided.
