Udupi : As a part of Diamond Jubilee celebrations, MIT Manipal is organizing 50^th Engineer’s Day on 15^th September 2017 to commemorate the birthday of legendary Engineer Sir M. Visvesvarya, said Dr. G K Prabhu, Pro Vice Chancellor (Tecnology and Management), Manipal University and Director, MIT Manipal.

Addressing to media persons at Udupi Press Club on Tuedaday, 12^th September, Dr Prabhu said that MIT Manipal has planned number of programs throughout the day to mark the celebrations in a grand manner. The program will be inaugurated by Mrs. Priyanka Mary Francis, the Deputy Commissioner & The District Magistrate, Udupi district at 9.30 am by garlanding the photo of the greatest Engineer this soil has produced, Sir. Vesgesvaraya.

Mr Amit Kapur, Director – Technical competitions are planned for 10^th 11^th and 12^th standard students of Udupi district as a part of this grand celebration. About 200 students from various schools have already registered to take part in this technical competitions. Exhibition of MIT students projects like Formula Manipal, All terrain vehicle, Solarmobil, Robots and may more are panned during this event. The exhibition is open to general public from 10 am to 4pm. About 1000 students and general public are expected to visit MIT during the day to witness the celebrations. As part of MITs tree planting drive, planting of saplings at MIT “Vajravana” is also planned.

He said that unveiling ceremony Solarmobil – series I vehicle is also planned on 14^th September at 10 am at5 Innovation Center, MIT Manipal as part of the celebrations. Dr. H. s. Ballal, Pro Chancellor, Manipal University will inaugurate the program. Dr. Sanjeev M Patil Superintendent of Police, Udupi Dist will be the chief guest. Dr. G. K. Prabhu, Director of MIT Manipal will preside over the function.

Engineers’ Day seminar on “Role of Engineers in a Developing India” was organized today as part of the Engineers Day activity in MIT Manipal.
