Udupi : The Nava Karnataka Vision 2025 was launched in Udupi district by District in-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj on Wednesday, 4^th October, 2017 at TMA Pai Hall, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal here.

In his introductory address, Tushar Girinath IAS, Principal Secretary for Chief Minister said that Vision 2025 of the state government with the intention of keeping the growth plan for seven years is to ensure that they are workable and achievable. We have reviewed the functioning of the each department and focus will be given to see their each department with the international standard. The Vision 2025 for the first time in history of our country, a common man will have a say on shaping the Karnataka of his dreams. The dynamic and visionary Chief Minister of Karnataka is reaching to every resident to know their thoughts as to how we need to take Karnataka forward by the year 2025. His pet project Vision 2025 is rolling out to every household. This is also the first time that the consultations and documentation process will reach to every nook and corner of the state.

Vision 205 is a unique endeavour to capture the expectations of every stakeholder in the State’s development blueprint, most importantly the State’s citizenry across the social spectrum. The idea underlying this exercise came from the growing realization that the citizen of today and the near future is highly engaged and aware, someone who is keenly interested in participating in the process in order to contribute to the State’s progress.

He said that the Vision Document Project will run for a period of five months and the Vision Document shall be will be completed 31^st December, 2017. The vision document shall be developed on a participative principle through broad based consultations, incorporating both a top down and bottom up approach. It will be finalized through the means of public consultations, workshops and seminars, conferences, interaction with various sectoral agencies and interest groups, representational organizations, through the creation of social media apps and tools for idea generation etc. across a wide cross section of constituents.

The vision 2025 exercise will cover 13 sections that have been carefully identified through a preliminary brainstorming process involving all heads of department and cover a sectoral spectrum which will drive the state’s future growth on key socio economic and human development indicators. The sectors include Agriculture and Allied sectors, Infrastructure, Industrial Development, Services, Education and Slo;; Development, Health and Nutrition, Rural Development, Social Justice and Empowerment, Urban Development, IT & BT, among others aprt from areas such as Governance and Law & Order.

He said that as part of the vertical approach, the state government intends to incorporate views and feedback from people in all corners of the state including the 30 districts. The purpose of the district level discussions is to obtain feedback on the question, what would you want to see happen for the development of Karnataka over the next 7 years and incorporate diverse opinions, views and insights from a broad cross section working at the grassroots with all, especially the most vulnerable sections of the society.

After the inauguration, Pramod Madhwaraj said that a Nava Karnataka Vision 2017 is an initiative of the Siddaramaih Government at Karnataka with the intention of all round development in various fields in the Karnataka State. The various projects of state government will benefit not only common people but also the downtrodden in society. Unlike the rich, poor people need the government. One should go and meet the poor and understanding their pain and sorrows. Whichever government can work for poor people’s welfare only it this is done. A person will not understand the poor by sitting in an air conditioned cabin. Only social welfare measures are not enough for the development of the state, he said.

The Vision 2025 project of the Siddaramaih is not a political manifesto, but a document to run the government with success. The government has sanctioned Rs 270 crore for the expansion of the Varahi project aimed at providing all 24 hours water supply for the district including Udupi city limits. The department concerned has taken up road widening work at a cost of Rs 14 crore at Ambagilu Manipal Malpe and other city roads. Rs. 600 crore spent for the construction work. More than Rs. 13 crote spend for beach development. Udupi district is only getting electricity round the clock in the state, he said.

All title deeds have been given to beneficiaries. Rs 16 crore for G. Shanker first Grade College and Rs 14 crore for Government first Grade College at Thenkanidiyur has released for the colleges development. There is no medical college in Udupi district rather KMC, Manipal. A proposal has been approved to set up a government medical college near Brahmavar Sugar Factory. Under KUDCEMP, underground drainage water work at Manipal and Kallianpur has been taken up. A solid water management project work undertaken under the guidelines of Vellore C Srinivasan, project director, Indian Green Service, he said.

Three bus stands projects under process. The high tech KSRTC bus stand will be established in Bannanje under DELTA scheme. A mini Vidhana Saudha project work also under way.
